First part of the track moves along the ridge which goes with the glacier...
This is actually snow but is covered with mud and stones and has lost it's color.
Crossing one of the many streams that came in our way.....
nice trip and good narration same like ur neelum valley trip thread
Resting after every 10 min. of walking.....
Another beautiful stream enroute....
Finally seeing the first signs of Beyal.....
Beyal Area.....Nanga Parbat got covered with clouds.....
The beautiful Raikot Peak....
Another 40-50 min. walk from Beyal will take you to Nanga Parbat/Glacier view point. It is highly recommended to go to this place.... Very scenic views of the Glaciers and also of Nanga Parbat.....
Two colored glacier.....
Looking back from where we came......
More close up of the Glacier.....
This also marks the end of Day 3 as we just returned from view point to Fairy Meadows..... On our way back it took us 15 min. to reach Beyal camp where we had lunch and a further 50 min. to reach back Fairy Meadows....Our biggest disappointment was not to attempt the Base Camp.... Had we left Fairy Meadows earlier we might have attempted the Base Camp track....
Day4: Wednesday 6th July 2011 Fairy Meadows-Tatu-Raikot Bridge-Astore-Rama:We had told the Jeep driver that he should be back to pick up at about 2:30 PM. So we had lot of time to spare on this day. So we ventured around FM and saw the famous reflection Chappar as well as another Chappar which the locals called a lake.Anyways we left FM at 1PM and reached Tattu at about 2:30 PM. We were lucky to find the lone jeep on our side and we sat on it and reached our jeep within 15-20 min. Finally we boarded our jeep and reached back Raikot Bridge at about 4PM. Then we packed our luggage into our Prado and left Raikot at about 5PM. The road from Raikot to the Astore turning is in very bad shape. We have to travel about 20KM (A few KM shy of Jaglot) where we can see the Astore turning. The road from this point to Astore is in very good condition. We cross Indus river and the road runs along a river (I think it is Astore river though not so sure) all the way upto Astore. Astore from this point is roughly 50KM and will take about 1 hour to 90 min. When we reached Astore we decided to stay in PTDC Rama and so we went straight upto Rama and spend our night there....
Reflection water..... The sunlight was not perfect so the pic is not as good as it should be.....
The other Lake/Chappar in Fairy Meadows.....
Forest Rest House where we spend our 2nd night.... It was very nice with brand new blankets and clean toilets.....
This is Tarar Lake, Fairy Meadow Lake. Area ahead this lake is called Fantoori...
Now on our way down.... This is the track.... It is not so much dangerous as some people have stated but it goes along a ridge....
It's me passing through a wooden door on our way down....Yes I know I am quite Kilos over weight but I still managed to complete this track in record time....
More pics of the track..... In this scorching heat even descending was not straight forward let alone ascention. I think had we done it in this heat we might have done it in 4 hours at least....
Is it some govt department??? Wats room rent....
If you slip this is where you will end up i.e in the raging stream coming straight from the Raikot glacier.....
It is Forest department rest house.... We stayed there for free because one of my friend had links in Gilgit Baltistan forest department....
