June 2013 Trip to Sudhan Gali, Ganga Choti, Leepa and Chakothi

Finally we reached Mauji in about 90 minutes which included a couple of stops for sight seeing and also on the Army check post for entry....
Mauji is in the valley and it was quite hot there.. Also this is where we first met the Qazi Naag Nala.... Also this point is very near to the LOC... The LOC is merely 2KM and so is the shrine of Saeen Mithe Sarkar....
After reaching Mauji we crossed the Qazi Naag Nala and traveled for almost 35-40 min. till we reached main Leepa village.
In between we stopped for an hour to enjoy the Qaazi Naag Nala....

Our driver told us about a 1.6MW hydro power plant in Leepa village. We decided to visit it. He send a small boy with us to guide us to the hydro power station... It was a 5 min. walk (all descend) to the power station which was almost near to the Qazi Naag Nala.....

There are 2 units of 800KW each....

also note that Leepa is not connected to the main grid. So usually there is no load shedding in Leepa specially in summer or if you are unlucky there is a power cut for weeks when there is some fault in the power station.....

First we were greeted by AC Leepa and he entertained us with cold drinks....

After visiting Leepa Hydro Power plant and a meeting with AC Leepa we left Leepa Village and moved towards Chananian... A couple of KM's away from Leepa is the best location to take pictures of rice fields as has been already pointed out by @aesiege .... Here are a few pics though not as beautiful as when the rice crop is ready in September.....

Near Chananian Bazaar... In fact this is just past the Bazaar. You will have to pass the Army check post to reach this place... A very nice place to spend some time near the water...

In Chananian we were told of a a small cultural festival being held in Manda Kuli Bela which was merely 2KM. So we decided to give it a go..... and it was the most beautiful place of the whole Leepa valley (In my opinion)... It is the same road that goes onwards to Kulimandal and then to 12 Hazaari.

This track leads to 12 Hazari.....I think it must be one of the best tracks of the whole Leepa valley... But keep in mind it is highly off limits if you don't have a close connection in Army....

Reached the Cultural Festival.... There was quite a gathering at the place...

We took a plate of Boiled rice with Red Beans (Laal Lobia) just for checking.... and it was so delicious that we ended up eating 4 plates.... Although the rice is nothin as compared to the "Super Cornel" from my home town Sialkot but still at least the Lobia was very tasty....

I am definitely going there again and In Sha Allah for multiple days stay.
