I've purchased a Cultus, for first time. My first car was Margalla 1993 model. I went with a mechanic, he said it's a car in good condition.
But then, after purchasing went to check another mechanic. He said the engine has some noise, not sure about all what he said, but said to change timing belt, seals, cng kit service and to not change oil. He said the current oil is thick-mix so do not change oil otherwise with thin-oil car will make more noise.
To me, the drive seems okay but I've used Alto and Bolan etc. So the steering seemed to be hard. The car is by the way sitting idol since last six months. So I drove it for quite a while to bring it back home.
So what do I need to check as a new buyer? And change?
1) I need to know more about brake oil, engine oil, gear oil, and coolant. Which one to use and when to change.
2) There are minor touch-ups, any welder recommended in Karachi?
3) The blower is working, AC isn't. That I can get changed but the AC direction flappers, those in black used to change cooling direction, they are all broke. What to do?
4) How do you take care of cars in rainy season?
5) There was certain oil leak near engine, so mechanic suggested to do timing belt and seals change to avoid oil loss. What should I do or ask mechanics?
6) Do I need to get the 4 wheels greased as the car was idol since 6 months?
7) Which polish do you use?
I'd prefer reasonably priced great solutions for each of these. How often do you get the tuning done? Besides should I get the car washed first or let the mechanic work at it first?
Those were a few questions on top of my mind.
