Kaghan Valley: Latest Updates for 2012 season

A little of topic but I thought it is better to use hot current thread to raise my question and experienced persons input for the help.

Is that possible to see Shogran from Naraan in one day, I mean went to Shogran in the morning and came back to naraan in one day moreover how to get there from naraan on local transport if there is any available or I need to hire a jeep for that and if jeep hired from naraan how much it will gonna cost.

yes it is possible to goto shogran in the morning and come back to naran in the
evening.. depends on how long you want to stay in shogran
though i haven't been on local transport there but i dont think there will be any problem finding it..
from kewai u can hire a car or jeep upwards to shogran.. (around 8km from kewai)
if u wana do it.. i suggest leave early as poss in the morning so that u have enough
time to come back to naran safely and before dusk..

That's all fine but dude I need now a bit more info about the local transport or economical jeep info hiring place of jeep from naraan or from midway or strting point in the direction of shogran if anyone have the full info or done that from going to shogran from naraan in one day please guide on this.

sir u seem a bit too much concerned about the jeeps..in kaghan naran there is not a problem of hiring of jeeps... jeeps are everywhere.. u just need to bargain.. there is no specific place for sasta jeep walass.. just dont ask hotel ppl to arrange jeep for u (this would be costly i think)

1. No need to go to kiwai on jeep IN MY OPINION..it will cost u much.. go there on any
   available public transport like hiace etc.

2. From kiwai (where u will land if u want to goto shogran), u will easily find jeep or
   even car to goto shogran.. there is no issue to worry in my opinion..

YES> i cant guide u about the exact rents right now buddy...

U WILL GET ALTERNATE ANSWERS ALSO form other ppl here and gurus..

It is easily doable.

2-2.5 hours from Naran to Kiwai. So start early in the morning and then u will have 5-6 hours to spend at Shogran and Sri Paye. Then 3 hours for return journey to Naran.

Use hiace for Naran-Kiwai-Naran part. They may charge around 200. Jeeps charge 2500-3000 for return journey from Kiwai to Shogran and Sri Paye. I paid 2000 in Sep trip but that was off season. They will also be running per head basis jeeps in peak season.

I usually visit Shogran and Sri Paye either while going to Naran on first day or while coming back on last day.

Trekking Update

One of the very first groups of trekkers has already reached Dudipat Sar Lake this week

So, trekking to Dudipat Sar Lake is officially open now for 2012 !!!

SO the Dudipatsar trek is open now??
Will the lake be frozen at this time of the year?

bro .. when i was in naran in 2010 ... i reached naran on friday and hotel persons are not entertaining me because after 1 day there is weekend and thay r saying that i can get hotel room for 1 night only.

It will be through the glaciers and lake will be frozen.
