last year in aug 2011, i parked my car in front of the hotel in kiwai as he knew me, and he looked after my car for a day, then hired a jeep and went to shogran and siri paya, came back and took the car back to lahore, i have an auto honda city 2005 so didnt want to ruin it or even end up in a accident...

what are chances that shugran can be reachable by car in mid june.?

any good condition car can reach at shogran after few days as rout will be cleared very soon for cars.

Road to naran is now open, my friend is presently in naran, just talked with him, although he went in landcruiser 100 series (2001) but as road is opened so cars can make way too. He will update himself tomorrow with lots of pics

Once glaciers are cleared even Suzuki FX can go to Naran so no worries for your probox

Update 2:

• Jeeps are crossing Naran glaciers now and reaching the bazar.
• Jeeps are going till Saif-ul-Muluk road big glacier only. After that its hiking till the lake.
• Beyond Naran, way is open till Sooch village only. So, it will take some more time for opening of way till Batakundi and Lalazar.

what about after 20 aug? i mean may we see lush greenry around and on the way to lake?
or lake kaise hoti hy after 20 aug?

By Aug end, snow patches may not be there but valley will be lush green and water will be same strong blue color.

But that famous view with snow patches is in July mid-to-end only which will be Ramazan this year. But u can visit between 15-20 July before Ramazan and i think u would be able to get the best views of Dudipat Sar

i hav a probox too, i fell it a bit low profile, as on speed breakers it is rubs bottom. The road near Naran is never good so the car might b abused a lil bit, although i have seen low profile mark x, CL9, E class etc in Naran, so it depends on u. I guess probox is designed as hard vehicle so not a big prob

i was in Shogran on 29 April, track was very hard, even at one point its was hard for 4x4 vehicles. There was a pakwheeler who was there on 6 may and track was of same condition. Dont know about current situation.

We had planned to cross Noori top in Late June. But from above replies, it seems that's not good idea. Please suggest what are best dates to cross Noori top and reach sharda.

P.S. We had planned to go to Neelum valley (Sharda) from Naran. Naran > Jalkhad road > Noori top > Sharda > Taobat. Anybody did this track before? Please advise.

This was our Visit to Naran, Pakistan on 5^th-May-12. There were three big Glaciers 500 meters away from Naran whereas this was the first Glacier which was very badly cut by the Bulldozer. First Half of the Glacier was ok where as remaining Half of the glacier was not even fit for the jeeps. After this glacier there were two more glaciers which were not cut but jeeps can easily go over the glaciers. First one was difficult and I hope, this Video will help many who intend to visit Naran Earlier the Week. Last Glacier was touching the Gateway Hotel Naran.

There were many other glaciers in the way but they have been Cut by the Bulldozer and first one we encountered on the road was before Kaghan.

End of July should be good to cross Nuri Top but it will be Ramazan so best time seems to be after Eid.

Update:

-You can't reach by car till Naran, however you can drop / park your car around 4 ~ 5 km before Naran(i didn't like this), and hire a jeep for naran -
-Saifalmalook track isn't open either yet. jeeps will drop you mid of the track and you've to do 4 to 5 kms by trekking.
-Kevai to Shogran isn't a road anymore, its mud track which gets much slippery when rained. Very dangerous for cars, if there's no rain since long (two days or so), you can get it done by cars then.

------- Jeep drivers over there usually misguide non-native drivers, so judge by asking rain history when going to shogran by your own car.
