While Lahore was simmering with heat it was time to have an escapade to mountains, smell pines perfume and put feet in glacial water. After some deliberation I decided in favour of Kaghan valley trip. It was my first really long drive on my Passo 2010 that I acquired in February this year.I left Lahore on Monday 16th of June at 9:30 AM. Drove on motorway and took exit at Hassan Abdal. Drove on to Abottabad to have a break and a late lunch there. Hit the road again after an hour, via Mansehra ended up at Balakot before sunset. I deeded to stay at PTDC motel and luckily the room was available. The evening and night was pleasantly cool and early morning shower made it even better. I woke up early after a good night's rest. The motel gate was still locked. I requested watchman to open it for me and me and my camera were out for a stroll. It was about sunrise time Kunhar river was seething with glacial waters while a mist hung over it, snow was gleaming over distant mountain tops. I was happy to see it all and knew Kaghan never disappoints me. A great trip was ahead. Some shots to share from this walk.

I reached Balakot at about 6 :30 pm. Rent for double bed room at PTDC Balakot was 3300/- per night. It was a standard room, not luxurious but clean bathroom, clean linen and good service. Staff was cordial. It was pleasant one night stay. No issues with the road. Total distance travelled by my car during the trip was 1309 km from my home to home.
