When it stopped raining in the afternoon, I went out for a photo-walk in Tabriz city. This picture is from the incredible 'Blue Mosque'.
Internet is painfully slow here and accessing Facebook, which is banned in Iran, via VPN makes it even worse. I have a lot of pictures from Tabriz to share and many stories to tell but will do so when I have a decent internet connection.
Tomorrow I am gonna stay in Tabriz to explore some more places. — at Blue Mosque, Tabriz.

Some more updates from Iran:

It seems that Angelina Jolie and the Indian actress Karina Kapoor are very popular in Iran, as indicated by the CD covers in this picture. Perhaps Karina is the most popular film actress here. I saw her pictures on all sorts of products in the grocery markets in Tabriz.

Cycling from Bostanabad to Saraab, I look to the right and see a distant figure waving hand to me and asking me to come over.
There are four men sitting far way in the field surrounding by their sheep. I pull over the bike and drag it to the fields. There I meet Mehdi, who is wearing a hat, and Karim (full name Karim Benzema as he told me). I am invited over to lunch, Lavash bread with meshed potatoes, and given hot tea. Mehdi gets a test ride of my bicycle. We take some photos and I have some lovely conversation with them in broken Farsi. When I look at the watch, one hour has passed. They are not letting me go and pouring tea once more. Now I am about to leave, but they are asking me to stay with them overnight at their house which is presumably not far away. Unfortunately I have to make it to Saraab so I say goodbye to them.

Wao I had been a very strong enthusiast of cycling all my life and have won and participated in many cycle races in Pakistan. I can really imagine the thrill you must be experiencing travelling from Turkey all the way to Pakistan i cant find words to encourage you and the effort that you have taken to fulfill your dream

My first city in Uzbekistan was Karakul. There I couldn't find a hotel. Someone led to a nearby restaurant whose owner offered me a place to stay for 5 USD. It turned out to be an under-construction site with no furniture, electricity and toilet facilities. I was given a huge empty room where I rolled the mattress on the floor and spent the night. — in Karakul', Bukhoro, Uzbekistan.

My destination in about two to three weeks is Duschanbe in Tajikistan. The other two capital cities, Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) and Almati (Kazakhstan) are not part of the plan.

Just few kilometres after entering into Uzbekistan, a van carrying a bunch of ladies stopped in front of me. The passengers wanted to know where I was from and where I was heading to. They took their mobiles out and started filming and taking pictures of me. I was bemused, so I also took my camera out to take a revenge. — in Uzbekistan.
