Karachi 4x4 Club: Trip to Shah Noorani, 15th July 2018

So we are back again. Dear friends, after our last visit to Mubarak Village before Ramadan, Karachi 4x4 Club decided to visit the Shrine of Shah Noorani. In all we were approximately 8 vehicles with 18 members and guests. We met near Askari 4 at Shell Petrol Pump at 6am on Sunday the 15th of July. After exchanging hellos and a few top ups (fuel), we proceeded to Hamdard University where we had a breakfast of Omelette, Paratha and doodh patti. We then headed for Khuzdar area crossing the turn off for Sassi Panhu. We were carrying Walkie Talkies so the usual banter kept us happy and engaged. Its a beautiful journey (if one likes desolate land scapes and complete wilderness. There is one narrow metaled road and in case of oncoming vehicle, one needs to put two wheels on the katchaa (shoulder of the road). Usual traffic is the "zaireens" visiting the shrine and trucks heavily loaded with marble. One of our jeeps was giving us trouble so we left it at a hotel and proceeded onto Shah Noorani. The shrine is located in a narrow valley surrounded by date trees (basically an oasis) and some of the climbs are very sheer. Last 2 kms of the track to the shrine is total off road track and needs maneuvering in case of an oncoming vehicle. After spending some time at the shrine, we headed back stopping for lunch which we had taken with us. Here we used our camp chairs, and rugs and enjoyed the serene environment while gobbling student baryani. Trip back tested us as a family and Allhumdulillah we all came through much closer together than before, courtesy of the breakdown of two jeeps. Me and another member towed the two vehicles back all the way to Gulshan in Karachi (some +80 kms with steep inclines, descents and broken river beds). Allhumdulillah reached Karachi around 4:30pm. Hi ..overall an amazing trip and great weather ..the trip started bang on time at 6 in the morning and even after a few break downs we were back home before night ... looking forward to the next one

Both mini pajeros didn’t disappoint. They proved to be very reliable jeeps specially on the harsh “off-road” terrains.
By the way, if you’re into this and take it as a sport, you don’t only need a jeep, you need to have a heart as well.
It would be really nice if you respect what others have, and keep your degrading opinions to yourself, brother.
Furthermore, we’re going to attach some pictures to this thread to show you guys what these minis are capable of.

Well, you've not driven one certainly. I own the green one in this group, and for over 2 years of ownership I have taken it up to Azad Kashmir, done little bit of off road there, but the engine power is enough to pull this little monster, and overtake lots of trucks going uphill, with couple of passengers with me.

As Rameez pointed out, these small 4x4s are very capable, and due to its small size, and light weight, it can go to places where big mighty get some trouble.

In this trip, there was complete off-road rocky track for about 2KMs, both of the Pajero Minis in our group got through without a hitch.

Don't listen to hearsay, either ask from people who own one, or experience it for yourself to make an opinion

You're right, I haven't driven one personally.

I jast saw small wheels and low ground clearance and put two and two together!

And this car also has a very small engine so I thought there's no way this car can keep up with the big guns in the group!

Glad to hear this car is doing just fine. Very impressive indeed.

AoA good trekking. How can i be part of this club pls advice. Secondly i travel alot due to my job and over the years have explored many terrains in both Balochistan and Sindh. Recently bought a mini pajero as well to take time out of my very busy travelogue. Thanks

First time i went to Shah Norani around 25 years back was in a Mazda 1500 1969 model and it was a great adventure. In 2014 drove my VW beetle to Bumble Peer through desert will upload.pics soon for consumption

My jeep is auto but fuel monster. Recently purchased to try it out but seeing the high consumption its giving me chills to retain it. any advice

Mini pajeros come with a three speed automatic gearbox which makes them rev more than its required specially at high speeds.
Every mini pajero owner with an automatic tranny has problems regarding low mileage.
What you can do for now is get the car tuned up, get the air filter cleaned and drive it on it’s optimum tyre pressure. Also look up for this concept called “hyper-miling”, it’s pretty useful and it helps.
For the longer run, just get a manual gearbox for your mini and you’re good.

Good advise Rameez,

@getsmart, which model you bought? I own a 1995 manual version (green one in photos above).

Initial models of Pajero Mini auto were only 3 forward gears, hence the bad fuel average, while newer models 2000+ came with overdrive option (4th gear) which performs pretty good with fuel economy.

Do share photos of your Pajero Mini.
