Karachi to Islamabad (itinerary)

Hello Respected PW community.
I am planning for my FIRST road trip to Islamabad and then Swat from Karachi in April 2019 (just before Ramadan)
I will be traveling with my Wife and 1 year old Son. I have developed an Itinerary for the travel, would appreciate if you could tell that is it okay or not. Also, what sort of documents should I keep with the car to avoid police trouble. I am hoping your inputs can help me devise a robust plan here. Regards

I got the idea that you intend to leave Karachi at 5:00AM, you didn't mention the starting point and vehicle, but you can easily travel to Hyderabad in under 2hours from your home.

Also, on day 2, you can easily by-pass Multan altogether, from Bahawalpur when you are going towards Lodhran, and a few kilometers after you cross River Satlaj bridge, take the right turn on E-5 which will take you to Khanewal toll Plaza.

When I was travelling in late December 2018, people have suggested not to take the double carriage (single road) from Chichawatni to Toba Tek Singh, so I avoided that and traveled on N-5 all the way to my destination i.e Lahore.

As for papers/documents:
Valid CNIC, valid driver's license, vehicle registration book, up to date token tax, and just to be extra careful, valid 3rd party insurance certificate & highway pass code book. I was only asked for my driver's license when I was booked for over speeding near Rahim Yar Khan/ Sadiqabad, was doing 75km/h on a 50km/h limit stretch.

I will prefer,

try to reach Bahawalpur for night stay at the end of first day, you can manage it by some cut in your rest time and leave early from Karachi by 4 am.

start 2nd day from Bahawalpur take E5 Lodhran bypass to reach Khanewal, than continue to ur route.

In my opinion,
Day1: Karachi to Bhawalpur
Day2: Bhawalpur to Islamabad.

Please mention your vehicle name for our idea.

1. Car must be on your name.
2. Keep your original NIC
3. Original license.
4. Car registration book.
5. Tax paid
6. Road insurance
7. Some time police need NOC.

overall look good.. and i think you can try to improve your timeline while you are on the road and can decide if you can reach to Bhawalpur first day..

you can bypass Multan now as E5 (Lodhran to Khanewal) has been built newly which will save almost 3 hours..

Chichawatni to Gojra is good option but keep in mind its a single road however road condition is good mostly except around Gojra where some road work was going on when i travlled last July..

for Lunch in Faisalabad, you will need to leave M4 as there is no meal options on M4, which i think will waste your time.. i would recommend either you have lunch in Gojra before you take M4 or delay your lunch for further an hour or so and have it on Sial rest area at M2 where you will have good options..

further you have not mentioned your car details but whatever it is, you just need to make sure it is mechanically fit.

for documents, nothing speciall just keep all relevant docs along with CNIC.. if you encounter any police in Sindh it will be just for bribe so handle them accordingly.. good luck!

Thank you Boss. Didnt think of E-5 because most people suggest N-5 and than toba tek singh and Gojra route. Is the route condition good for E-5?

E-5 was the best road except M-9, just be careful of the bridge/overhead joints near Khanewal, they had done some sloppy work there and these 2-3 overheads should be negotiated at a reasonably slow speed.

Aoa.
From khanewal, instead of going to chichawatni, kamalia, toba & gojra u can take kabirwala shorkot road of around 70 km and can join Motorway M-4 from shorkot, instead of gojra.
Gojra- shorkot section is expected to be opened by 2nd feb 19, even if it is delayed, it will be operational by April 19.

My, my...a very detailed plan indeed! And I see you have heard the experts too. Well done!

It always pays to be prepared and travel with a plan. And I see that you will be in a FAW V2. If I am not mistaken, this is probably the first V2 to be featured in a road trip as such (pl correct me if I am wrong brothers).

Thanks @kn_khipk , just trying to learn from the experienced members. Will be taking @rehmanahmed1 comment in consideration as well if Gojra - Shorkot route opens up.
I have seen pictures of people who have taken FAW V2 till Khujerab pass but unfortunately couldn't find anyone to contact.
