Karachi to Lahore by Road - Need Suggestions

Qazi ahmed in my opinion is 25 or 30% of Hyderabad/Sukkher.

Moro would be half way.

Taking N55 is preferred in day light. From Hyderabad toll plaza to Qazi ahmed you would definitely find your self atleast 2 pumps on both sides.

Depends upon your budget. In middle range, Hotel One or Belmoris Hotel in Multan and Hotel One in Sukkur. Advising this out of my own personal experience!!

How was the road conditions between Karachi and Sukkar? I've heard road was badly damaged by the recent rain and floods. Is the situation better? Also which route to take, Indus highway one or stay on N5?

Well as I said, Hotel One or Belmorris are in middle range like between 8k to 13k per night (or one can say a bit on Higher side in middle range)..if u want to spend lesser (between 3k to 4k) then still there are multiple options where u MIGHT need to sacrifice on things like Hot water, breakfast etc. Just check any hotelling website (booking.com or agoda), set your range and you'll get numerous options.

I did my 4th trip within 1.5 years in my Sportage to Lahore and Islamabad from Karachi and back.
It was the first one after the floods damage to the road and also my first in winters / fog season. The road damage was expected only on the Hyderabad to Sukkur National / Indus highway segment, but surprisingly, it wasn't as much as I thought and caused no real delays (max 15-20 mins overall each way). In some sections near Moro, the roads were being repaired on one side which caused a slow moving convoy led by long trailers / tankers and that was mostly it.
I left at around 6 am as I always do and reached Lahore at 8:45 pm (Shaheed-e-Millat Rd. Karachi to M M Alam Rd. Lahore). The main concern was fog after Multan as I crossed it around 3:30 pm, but I was lucky and got through without even moderate fog. I kept monitoring the NHA FB page and the Met office fog updates page.
On the return however, I couldn't start early because of early morning fog and stopped at Sukkur overnight.
Overall the trip was enjoyable and not very tiring as now we have learnt from experience how to save time and manage the snacks and bathroom breaks. BTW I don't exceed speed limits and prefer not to drive in the dark too much. The Sportage is also a king at comfort and perfect for such trips with family. The fuel avg is not very impressive as it stays around 11 kmpl with relaxed driving at 115 to 120 km/h (GPS speed where traffic and road allows) and I wish I could have something like 14-15. Maybe not possible in the Sportage, have kept this in mind for my next vehicle Inshallah

I travel in daylight, so I take the Indus Highway these days. You have to shift to the Indus Highway after Qazi Ahmed via the Aamri bridge. The road is very good with very few portions of two way traffic, and the traffic is not congested, unlike the National Highway to Hyderabad from Sukkur.
Google maps will offer you this route usually as it is faster and saves time. You join the Karachi Hyderabad Motorway M9 at Jamshoro.
