Do you think it would be a good idea to order MK blue box or should I search for Frixa front pads?

I am very much satisfied with Frixa brake pads. In monsoon season, it rains every other day in Islamabad, no noise coming out from front discs. And the brakes are good in rain. My MK (yellow ones) used to become useless in rain (spongy feel)
If you can find Frixa for Khyber then its good, otherwise give a try to MK blue ones.
BTW a shopkeeper was telling me that MK blue is discontinued. Don't know how true is that.

This weekend its raining continuously in Islamabad, so thought of checking ignition system of my Khyber.

R-Spec 10mm Sparking Plug wires resistances: (Ohm-meter set to 20K setting)
Small wire: 0.70K Length: 22 inches
Medium wire: 0.76K Length: 23 inches
Large wire: 0.84K Length: 25 inches
Distributor to Ignition coil: 0.93K Length: 27 inches

These wires were bought and installed in March 2011. Working perfectly even after 5 years. High quality wires.

Ignition Coil Resistances:
Primary resistance (from positive and negative terminals of coil): 1.2 Ohm
Secondary resistance (from positive and HT terminal): 13.29 K-ohm

As primary resistance is low, smallest value was selected on ohm meter for accurate results.
The results verify that ignition coil is working absolutely fine.

Battery Voltage at Ignition coil: (Voltmeter set to DC Voltage)
DMM negative to battery negative and DMM positive to ignition coil positive.

Switch at ON position: Battery = 12.05V Coil = 11.3V
When engine is running: Battery = 14.38V Coil = 13.47V

There is a little bit voltage drop at the coil due to resistance of wires and connectors, but its negligible.

A friend having mehran is complaining with voltage across coil. He says on ignition on it has 7.5V and car started 10.9V what can be issue?

7.5 Volts is too low.
It can be a wiring issue. Old desi wires with too much resistance may be.
What is the voltage across battery terminals when car is idling with and without load?

So finally took my Khyber to Jabri (Harro river) again. This time with Frixa brake pads.
This journey through hills has very long slops while going and returning. At times slight burning smell of brake pads/shoes was noticed but I wasn't sure it was my car or others. But as far as brake performance is concerned, I am very much satisfied. No brake fading. I was fully confident with braking this time. Glad that this old issue is finally resolved now otherwise it was very scary driving downhill.

The only problem i am facing is the brake heating. Dealing with the problem from last 3 years and finally changed the brake Tee which helped in braking but then the heating issue arrived. I didnt find any brake pads other than MK ones and i am tired. After one push the brake is not helping heated. Rotors are genuine and the culprit is pads. Plus one thing i see here is the brake hoses. I thing i consider replacing them now. Can you plz source me out the frixya pads as iam willing to pay in advance. Or the other ones u say the mk blue box. Thanking in anticipation.

My mechanic found the Frixa brake pads for me, I will contact him again in this regard.
Regarding MK blue ones, you can buy them from JKG car parts. They are Lahore based and as you are also from Lahore, the delivery is free of cost.

The car is looking nice stunning just the rear emblems are ruining the look. Do get the orignal one's these chromed ones look cheap on Khyber.
BTW is the car still in its original paint?

I also have it in orignal paint but that doesn't look this much shiny the paint has gone a bit dull. Unfortunately i had get its right fender and bonet painted a big branch of tree fell on it during the last year's monsoon.

And yes daniyal ahmed is back almost after an year i used to read his all post's about khyber...

Looks like Meguirs did the job? Loving the shine. Do get wheel covers, or at-least hub caps and if you're able to find the original emblems, then do replace these chromed ones with them.
Yeah I've been away from Pakwheels for quite some time now, busy with some other stuff.

Removed the rear chrome emblems and replaced them with black ones. As suggested by @hassantahir2 the emblems were sprayed with lacquer.

These emblems are looking much better than the chrome one's.
But i think they are fixed a bit above the stock place.

Do you have a picture showing rear view of Khyber in original condition.
I couldn't find a picture of brand new PKDM Khyber, people didn't have cellphones back then

Yes, they are a bit lower. But when I removed the old emblems, they left their marks. I used kerosene oil, the marks become light but they didn't completely disappear that is why I fixed the new emblems on the same old place.

JKG Parts dont have the MK Blue ones now. they are selling fbk as genuine and standard MK Yellow ones. Can u Help me finding the frixa Brake Pads ?

New Brake Booster and Master Cylinder

From the last couple of weeks my Khyber was reducing brake fluid. Checked all four wheels but there were no signs of leakage. Yesterday I saw that there was seepage all around master cylinder.

Took the car to mechanic and on visual inspection he said that master cylinder seals need to be replaced. Brought seals and opened the master cylinder but the wear was too much and the mechanic said there is no point of replacing the seals now. You need a new master cylinder.

Went to Ahata Mithu Khan Saddar Rawalpindi. There were shops which deals only in brake parts (kabli) and they have a lot of stuff but unfortunately no parts for Khyber. At this point the mechanic suggested that I should go for alteration and get some other car's master cylinder but I did not want that.

So we kept looking and finally one shop had a complete set of AISIN Japan for Khyber. The set includes Master Cylinder, Brake booster, bottle and bottle lid and it was in pretty good condition. He was asking Rs. 6500/- for it. The shopkeeper said I am not giving you just the master cylinder alone. My set will be useless. So I had to buy the whole set for Rs. 5500/-

Got all the four brakes bled and serviced. Now brakes are as good as new.

At that time i changed the master cylinder with the new taiwanese one from BGF company i guess for 1600/-RS another Chinese one was also available but the quality of that wasn't good that was for 1200/-RS.

The kabli stuff available here in my city wasn't any good so bought the new one and that is also working great.

Last time I replaced the front two brake hoses with brand new ones, the best available in Saddar but they were no good. Eventually I had to replace them with Japanese (Kabli). So this time my mechanic suggested me not to buy any thing other than AISIN Japan.

NEW TYRES

Bought new tyres for my Khyber
Yokohama S-707, 165/70 R12, Japan made.
23rd week of 2016.
Price Rs. 5125/- per tyre. Total: Rs. 20,500/-

Old tyres Hankook H-706 were adjusted for Rs. 4,000/-
So I paid Rs.16,500/- including wheel balancing and nozzles.

Old tyres were bought a little over 3 years ago, traveled 40,000 Kms with them.
They seem good but had developed very fine hair like cracks plus wobbling after 110 Kmph.
With new tyres, ride is very smooth. Tested them at 120 Kmph.

I am also about to change the tyre's and i am stuck between 3. Yokohama S-707, Dunlop Touring T1, General BG Tempo Plus. On physical inspection all three look equally good.
