Khyber Speedometer DIY

I have khyber 2000. Its speedometer was dim. I have seen many thread but non actually guide the process of cleaning from step 1.

Today I with my brother took the challenge and DIY speedometer cleaning. I also changed the default green lights with red ones.

Removed the horn cover to remove steering

Then removed the housing.Easy job.Just 4 simple screws.

These screws would free the meter. Also show in grip which is attached at the back of buttons.(lights)

First the housing and buttons

Back of buttons. 2 more screws to unscrew

Buttons gone.Dont forget to press buttons to take the switch off from the housing

Small glass under the switch.Needs cleaning.

Button. Press it and then unscrew.It has small spring under it.Dont worry it wont fly away.Spring is fixed.

The meter

You need to pull the main needle gently to remove the main plate of meter. Also there are 2 fine screws adjacent to needle to unscrew.During the process needles may starting going wayward. Dont worry these all can be re adjusted very easily.

Dont forget to remove small screw over the adjuster of clock.Otherwise you cant take the glass off

Oh BTW. this was not my first DIY but first one for PW.

^ yes dear, blue, orange, red, white and green available. Just ask parking light bulbs for khyber/mehran

Just 2, I remove the holders, remove the default bulbs, replace with red one and put the holders back.

If you put too many bulbs or LEDs then they will hurt your eyes. Speedometer is meant to be seen, it is not meant to be glowing like street lights.

Very Well Said....but our Local mentality want a very bright meter in fact if possible they will Install h4 bulbs in meter

exactly. they even think that a shiny dashboard is good while a matte one is bad. for god it is really good when u drive on the main road and the sunlight reflects from the dash onto ur eyes
