well after having driven both the cars
here is the review regarding the drive of both cars from my side
Suzuki Khyber 1999 model GA
Suzuki Cultus 2005 model VXR (carburetor model)
DRIVE:
on the 1st gear cultus goes to almost 40~45 km/h with the RPM still on 5 where as when it comes to a khyber it normally goes to 30~35 km/h and when you push it above 40km/h then the engine seems as if it will go blast :P.
on the 2nd shift khyber takes the lead with great pickup where as cultus lacks acceleration in 2nd shift and takes too long to go to 80km/h where as I,ve done 100 km in second shift on my khyber :P.
on the 3rd shift khyber once again takes a noticable lead and cultus lags behing on 3rd shift.
after 4th shift due to a noticable decrease in torque the cars seem almost the same.
SUSPENSION SYSTEM:
well regarding the suspension I was much dissapointed by cultus, suspension specially the rear suspension
not good at all :S
khyber is having a much sound suspension suspension system than cultus
INTERIOR AND LEG ROOM:
well as far the front two seats are concerned,
I found the leg room to be almost the same as that of khyber,s
yeah regarding the rear leg room then cultus is a bit more roomy in leg room for the back passengers.
IN CABIN ATMOSPHERE AND THE DASHBOARD PANEL:
the dashboard and the instrument panel is much more advanced and gives a pleasant look as it was the one which was derived from margalla plus so it is much better than the khyber dashboard as the later one is more primative looking,
the centre console box gives a good look to the cultus
cultus is having a lock with the glove compartment where as khyber does not have any,
plus cultus is also having a tachometer which is another plus point
another thing which I noticed was that the cabin was much more quiter than that of a khyber
the engine growl at high RPM,s was not that much clearly audible in cultus as it is in khyber so thats another +1 for cultus.
the doors of cultus are pathetic
you have to slam the doors shut where as in a khyber you have to push it gently and it will shut on its own
BRAKING:
regarding the brakes khyber takes the edge as it is having superior braking system as compared to cultus takes less time to halt the car completely
ROAD GRIP:
well mostly people say that khyber is having great road grip where as cultus does not have that much stability at high speeds
but upto 80~90 km/h cultus does not seem to be having any issues of poor road grip either
another thing of khyber is that even at high speed like 100 km/h the car,s stability doesent lets you feel that you are going at such a high speed where as in cultus even at 60~70km/h you feel as if you are moving at 140km/h
Im posting this review about the carby version of cultus
havent driven an EFI one so about the EFI one the views must be different
you guys are welcome to share your views plus any thing that I,ve mentioned in my review seems inappropriate or different to the experience of any other person who has driven both the cars then he is welcome to share his experience
