Dear Kia Classic Experts I just purchased Kia Classic 2001 (abt 2 month) and facing problem periodically with front wheels. Mechanic told me It is due to bearings. Please advise ur expertise. Thanks

SEriously though, if the bearings need to be changed then do get them done from a good mechanic. Dunno about Islamabad's parts market, but they're available here in KArachi. Had them changed once a while back.

Also make sure of the quality of the bearings that you get. Buying non-genuine parts will need replacing. It also comes down to how bad the previous owner was using the car and he's prolly given it to you after draining the present bearings out of its lifespan.

Have them changed, and from a good mechanic. I would be glad to help you out if you were in KHI, I wonder if Spectra (R) can help.

It would also help if you could explain exactly what problems are you facing. Is it tyre wobbling or some noise you hear etc?

Genuine (or good quality) Bearings for Kia (two same size bearings for one front wheel) shall cost you around 1000... talk to the shop owner when buying so he cares about his prestige and good will - to avoid cheating.

And while getting them fitted be present in the Lathe Machine Room so the cheaters do not replace them with un-genuine or used bearings to sell the originals to someone else. They shall press them well into the hub with pressure machine.

Getting new bearings will resolve whatever issue it is your facing, however, you do know that bearings may need to be changed every 2 years or so, depending on your driving and road conditions (especially with Karachi Potholes :() The prices provided above are pretty accurate and reasonable enough, but do make sure the parts are genuine.

@aabi_geo, its a built in problem in kia cars, they break the barrings or produce sound when car runs as they get older. My mechanic told me an alternate to get rid of this problem. He did some modification in the hub and installed the suzuki barrings (Japan) in it. They are different and better than Kia's barring, I got all of them replaced and it cost me total 2500. 1500 for front and 1000 for rear wheels.

bro there is no bearing problem in KIA cars especially Classic as i have this car and runs about 2000 kms/month .at pretty high speed due to Lahore Islamabad travelling..never had any issues with the bearings ..just put the genuine parts and i will never recommend you to modify any part.Pakistani mechanics modify so that customer is restricted to that mechanic....Don't put DESI parts and thats all...it will work like a charm ..

Thanks, may be its not the problem with all Kia cars but I've heard this from many Kia owners about this problem. My friend's father works in Deewan Mushtaq group, he told me that it was the major reason of failure therefore they stopped production. I agree this is not with every Kia car but as I said its with most.

Beside this, I strongly believe that Kia Classic and Pride both are excellent cars to keep.

lolz.. BTW yesterday I replaced my Kia's front (Right) Hub with kabuli Hub.. Because the place where barring is placed wasn't gripping it properly. I got the complete Hub with barring placed in 2000. Its working perfect now mashallah.

Slam to all..mery pass kia 2000 model hey...4 years ssy baring problem fit nhi hua ...baring change huy ..orignal barings japani bi korea k bi... complete change bi kia hub barings bo laken kuch arsa teak reh k phir whi... is ka replace kisi aur car ka bi tlash kia kabuli lahore islamabad 2 cities say bi ..laken nhi mila ..is k size ka koi aur baring nhi milta jo gool goli wa barung ho...is ka baring tapered goli wa hey jo kamyab nhi hta..aur ager desi dala jaey ya change krny main kuch fault aa jaey phir to 5 kilometer bi nhi chal pary ga..baring toot jaey ga car usi jaga rok deni ho gi... koi aur slution nazar nhi ata.

I purchased kia classic two months ago n got changed 3rd time rear wheel bearing but still in vain, changed mechanic n parts shop but results zero.
Now mechanic is saying to replace it's bearing with minor changes n put Suzuki... bearings...
