Yeah true with the political and landed elite indeed but there's a significant corporate/industrialist elite type buying base for fortuner that I've observed. Many of them buy it as a majboori case since the German cars like c class knock on local fuel and buying new LC's "legally" is very expensive, ik some people who drive around in a fortuner due to this lol and they do not like it at all.

But i feel the biggest weakness for Sorento is not even gonna be its lack of off-road capabilities but rather its looks.

Apart from political, feudal, corporate & industrial elites there's one other class that I've seen buying Fortuner i.e the showbiz industry. Almost every actor or actress is buying the Fortuner as if it's a sign that they've 'made it'. Seen some wannabe social media stars and vloggers / tiktokker even buying this and showing it across their youtube videos to indicate their 'financial success' to their followers. All of them don't care about offroading capability or specs or features or even the drive. It's just a status symbol to them.

For them there should be Fortuner status edition with 1.8 2ZR-FE engine and minimal features and full bling bling body kits etc. It'll be used in posh areas with pristine roads so anything else won't matter. After 2, 3 years they'll be up for sale with under 20k on the odometer.

Fortuner is the most popular SUV in all of Pakistan. If it was giving backaches to its owners, it wouldn't have the kind of delivery time that it currently does.

Delivery time is due to slow production which Indus is doing at the moment. There is no such demand of Fortuner.
The only cars in demand are Toyota Yaris and Kia Sportage.

Essentially, Sorento seems to be a 7-seater passenger carrier for driving on decent roads.

But it costs almost the same as an offroader SUV Fortuner. Strange. It seems like the only comparison of Sorento in Pak market is with DFSK 580 Pro.

I visited the Kia dealership near me today, saw both Sorento and Sportage side by side. The immediate difference sitting in the Sorento was the markedly more comfortable seats. Has anyone else noticed it? In comparison the Sportage seats were a bit firm. It was probably the cushioning and the leather type.
It is the same kind of difference that I get between City Aspire (leather) and current Corolla Grande.
It is making me rethink my inclination to the Sportage. Any feedback on Tucson seats in comparison?

Good car but after watching next generation of sorento i dont feel buying this generation thy launched carnival nd now they launch new gen a customer who pays soo much feel bad about it

The only direct competitor to Kia Sorento is Hyundai Santa FE which in Pakistan will cost you a fortune, thanks to Hyundai Nishat and for Fortuner i can only say that regardless of it's off road capabilities, for the price it's quality is abysmal.

Honestly find the black single-tone FWD interior better looking!

I'm probably changing the rims right after getting the delivery (still not decided on the tyres - the Hankook Dynapro HPs look fairly decent).

Santa Fe isn't really competition. Not locally assembled. And priced too high.

Sorento's only comparison is with DFSK 580 Pro.

Both FWD are in the same class.
Same features
Similar power and torque
Same seating

V6 though only competing with Carnival.

Excellent read on AWD and tyre implications - very enlightening.

And yes, I plan on maintaining factory tyre size (this gen is available internationally in 17, 18 and 19 inches) and my intention is to keep it at the factory 235/60/R18. Just not too crazy about the stock rims that come with the car.
