The problem in this country is no one buys a vehicle based on its utility.
So as long as something from competiton comes up that is as tall or taller than the Fortuner and does not looks like a truck it will not sell.

Don't know about everyone but there are many sane people in Pakistan that buy a vehicle based on its utility and as per their needs. No disrespect to anyone but there are many identifiable areas/locations/regions and communities in Pakistan where people buy vehicles for show off.

KIA is giving CBU then they could have brought in the proper new gen Sorento. It is already on sale. Why import old gen model.

Those who are getting delivery, can you please confirm the year of manufacture of the vehicles.

The newer shape puts the older gen to shame.

A guy was selling for about 11.1m on pakwheels. The trim level was lowest but still 11.3-11.5 i believe would be a fair assesment given 1.6 hybrid is imported.

I believe your decimal point is on the wrong side.

But anyway, just for assessment, the 1.6L plugin Hybrid Sorento starts at around 46000-GBP in UK, which means around 10 Million PKR. Let's assume KIA get it on subsidized factory rate of 38000-GBP means around 8.4 Million-PKR. Total incidence of duties is around 144%.

8.4 + 144%of 8.4 + [ freight , clearing + KLM own margin + Dealer margin ]

8.8M + 12.1M + approx 0.7M. = approx 21 Million.

Even if we reduce the price to 30,000 GBP [ If KLM gets it to that low] , after taxes and overheads , the price still remains above 16 Million.

For a reference, the Prius is 9.4 Million from Indus and it can cost around 25000-GBP for the one we get .

Gave my first Impressions on Sorento AWD about a month back in this forum on 18th April.

I have since driven her about 2500 kms, and here's the latest:

• Maintain initial observation that she drives to suit your mood. From smooth and slick to growl and pounce, it's all there.

• This is a significantly powerful vehicle. Leaves the Sigma 4 / 2.8D Revo behind in a straight line and most definitely leaves them in the dust when cornering at high speeds or on a track.

• Brakes are very effective and match well with the power generated. In essence, the Sorento can weave in and out of traffic and in between cars the same way a Civic or Aqua can without having to worry about thrust, braking or body-roll.

• More than ample ground clearance for urban/rural driving and has the bells and whistles (Magna Dynamax AWD / Central lock) to handle sand and snow. Cannot match Fortuner / Revo beyond this in off-roading capabilities.

• I've done many 1000 km+ trips within Pakistan on several vehicles. This has been the most comfortable one combining power, suspension, cabin comfort, fuel tank size and storage capability.

• Parking sensors are annoying and too sensitive. Will start going ape-shit bonkers with a lot of distance to spare. No ability to adjust sensitivity that I know of.

• Lack of downhill assist - available on Sportage - is criminal. Kyoun bhai?!

• One thing to mention in particular is the GRIP this goddamn thing has. Sticky AF! Navigating the swirls of the Makran Coastal Highway and Buzi top was more fun than should be allowed!

• For those interested (I don't care so much), the vehicle gives me 8.5 to 9 kmpl in the city and gave me 10 on the MC Highway. I drive with a heavy foot. Car went all the way fron KHI to Gwadar without refueling with several stops with AC on and about 100 km range to spare.

All in all, content with her for the time being. While I miss being able to jump curbs and attack rocks in my Revo, the advantages the Sorento presents over Revo and Fortuner are significant. Your mileage (figuratively) may vary.
