Ya I heard that too from dealership. However when I asked the lady at the counter which model is being launched for Sorento, she said 4th. However she may have likely replied that thinking that since Carnival's 4th gen is launched, the same must be for Sorento.
Is the Sorento good for off-roading etc compared to Fortuner
Or is it only for normal city usage
NO.. it's not an off road vehicle.
So definitely not worth shifting to it from a Fortuner
Frankly speaking, i have seen fortuner standing road side and hiring a "real Jeep" in off road conditions like Northern areas. how much of Fortuner owners on ground has to off road (specially people living in Lahore/ Karachi).
That's not the point.
If someone wants to offroad, Sorento is NOT the vehicle, but Fortuner IS! (the 4wd diesel variant).
So, simply, Sorento and Sportage are NOT offroading vehicles.
You are right whatâs the difference between a Sorento and a Sportage then
What kind of SUV canât go off-road
Would rather wait for Fortuner facelift or MG Gloster
very few SUV's are made with pure off road capability in mind, most of them are comfortable utility vehicles offering more space and ability to navigate moderately rough terrain occasionally.
The biggest advantage Sorento has is its 3.3L v6 engine we have got such a big engine in any local car
It depends on your preference. If you really want to off road then Fortuner is the way to go but if you want a comfortable powerful 7 seater cruiser than sorento is the the way to go.
There are few key differences ... sorento will come with 3.5L V6 engine, its a seven seater, it has more cargo space, it will be more comfortable and may also offer more features.
Interms of mild off road capabilities sorento will be better due to more power.
I actually have a sigma Fortuner and looking for upgrading to something new and canât really decide whatâs better personally a v6 engine looks very attractive to me not to sure about the off-road capabilities
If it could do mild off-roading I think it will be a good option because I will be travelling more on the road and only occasionally off the road so it will be a good update or I could what till MG Gloster comes and compare it with Sorento
Obviously
Really ppl no one gave a crap to Fortuner when it came to Australia, everyone buys a kluger, Santa Fe, or Sorento. People who want to do that sort of extreme tackling get a Prado or LC, Fortuner is a compromise made for the 3rd world and is extremely uncomfortable for what most people are using it over here i.e. normal city and motorway driving lol. Your mild off roading cases can easily and comfortably be done with modern crossovers/SUV's like Sportage and Sorento. If you've that extreme sort of use case then for sure go with a Fortuner otherwise you're only buying back pain for yourself :3
Letâs see what does Sorento delivers once it gets launched that v6 engine is really appealing and gives a huge edge over Fortuner as I find Fortuner a bit sluggish
