when reading a spec sheet or listening to a "pitch" I immediately dissect it to make me understand it. e.g. if salesman says - "naee sozooki pe daamar nahi aata - ye wali coting lagalein" I would ask to see a visual compared to a car of choice of salesman
here it goes
SM ; suzooki ki car pe daamar wali coting nahi aati - ye duss hazaar wali coating lagegi
M : acha sirf suzuki pe
SM jee
M to aur kis car pe aati hai? dikhasaktay ho to hum bhi dekhen kya farq hai.

thats called - the what, where and when rules of any engagement of fruitful conversation.
in the above statements, the salesmen is burdened to prove his statement in just presence or lack thereof - after exhausting such, you can get to material sciences - and actually get the information from the salesman too (if hes not a crayon eater)
OR
use a repository like this forum and use google search strings, you would be able to find threads and answers - which you can then further dig information about - never take information at face value - always verify it a few other ways, some forums have wrong answers in their own echo chambers.
