Next generation Sportage will be launched in April 2021. Like new Tucson, it will be sold in either regular or long wheelbase form depending on the country.

When I wrote this same issue on this thread, people came after me with pitchforks.

KLM is operating on Desi saith version of JIT (just in time) production. Where they only have parts to make a complete car, but nothing as spare because “screw the customer, business se baat karne ki tameez hai customer ko?”

They can brand it elite, royal, supreme etc etc, a vehicle which is not servicable by its own franchisee is as useful as a hammer made of glass.

Lol. Sad times when people actually have to resort to calling their lame Kia's "luxurious" or "elite". Little do they know that Kia's and Hyundai's are cheaper versions of their Japanese counterparts in other countries. Buying a Kia is a compromise, not a privilege.

I'd rather have Nissan and Mazda open up in Pakistan, rather than any Korean company. The former have a long history of making good cars, which are also popular around the world. Unfortunately, due to the fact that there's not much competition to the Sportage, for now, they're monopolizing on this segment of the market. I'd rather see how it stacked up against it's Japanese counterparts, Mazda CX-5 , Toyota Rav 4 , Honda CR-V etc. And I know they would stomp all over the Kia lol.

Mazda cx5 is lightyears ahead of any kia, mazda 6 feels like you are sitting in an italian designed car, all mazdas have one unique character.

They are really a joy to drive, the driver feels like a part of the car, this is a quality I would happily compromise on elsewhere.

E.g. mazda 6 is difficult to service and has its own quirks but the driving feel makes up for the quirks

Nissan are trash now, literal trash, they are still stuck with 20 year old engines and useless cv transmissions with extremely poor quality materials elsewhere, e.g dashboards that bubble and warp, paint that flakes off, power distribution modules that are made by some ghetto shop somewhere. Etc etc

Lol doubt Mazda is going to survive the global rollback on internal combustion engine, it's probably going to get eaten up by a larger Japanese manufacturer.

Yeah, I Know the issue with Jatco trannies. Teaming up with Renault was bad for the company. If they could break away and be a quality company again.

ICE aren't going anywhere. Especially not in Pakistan. We don't have the infrastructure to implement, nor the incentive to support all electric. We aren't talking about Norway here. And going by car sales around the world, good old gasoline powered vehicles aren't going anywhere for a long time.

Pakistan isn't the market these companies are going to run on

-UK wants an ICE ban post 2030-35
-California wants an ICE ban post 2035
-China wants more than 60% vehicle sales to be EV's post 2035
-EU goes stricter on ICE everyday

Automaker decisions will be driven by these economies which will automatically make ev adoption necessary in other regions

So all other regions will be back to horseback? The whole of african market is not counted? How abt kiwiland or oz? Or the other 49 US states of usa?

EV are great (they are very profitable for me) but they only work in developed places and only on tiny scale, Ive yet to see an EV container puller lugging a shipment in the frozen tundras of alaska or anywhere in the Russian fed.

All I see are Heavy duty Internal combustion diesel engines.

So when all companies close shop and start making ev, should the global economies just stop working? As in stop carting minerals and ores from mines? Stop marine vessels because they are run by HFO? - replace them with oldschool sails?

Parroting ideas is easy, but I doubt you even have the foggiest hint of how transport works.

^^they'll remain dumping grounds for old tech as they already are and will catch up at same rate as they do now.

US will adopt fast as EV's become more and more affordable as is evident by model 3 selling more than c class, 3 series, a4 combined already. Oz is already dumping ground for old engines for many automakers with their lethargic policies but they've finally started future fuels funding and incentives for businesses to electrify their fleets.

I'm sure Indian and Thai factories of car makers like honda and Toyota will continue to churn out obsolete ICE vehicles for poor markets in Asia and Africa but for small manufacturers like Mazda (who btw depend completely on NA, EU, AU for sales) I don't see much hope in this disruption where they neither afford big investments in EV's or switching to developing countries where they'd have to sell cars for pennies.

We are talking about light passenger vehicles here not about shipping vessels ffs.

EVs are not that viable as long as the electricity they are consuming is coming from gas/coal powered plants. Yes, if there is a breakthrough in the area efficiency of solar panels then that is another thing. ICE are here to stay no matter how stricter governments are going to go on them. Its better to make ICE more efficient and produce less toxic exhaust than making electricity of gas/coal and then run EVs on it

EV will be creating a huge demand on Generation Capacity. Imagine the demand for electricity if all vehicle turn EV in next ten years. May be Europe/America will be able to catch up to the demand but not all will be able to do it.

Also the tech needs to evolve, EV are getting more and more viable. I also believe that future is electric, but with the huge demand power companies can increase tarrif, gov will be ending subsidies and eventually more rental platform will be coming up. So more people will be sharing ownership or carrying membership for autonomous transport. Rest will be paying per KM.

Nawww trust me. ICE aren't going for a long time. Setting up a network support and infrastructure that caters to EV is gonna take decades to set up. Especially in Pakistan, plagued with power shortages and derelict and inadequate roads. Ev's are a luxury, niche segment in most markets. A few rich European countries can provide their citizens with incentives that make it beneficial to own an EV. I don't see the same happening here.

Without prejudice to KIA Sportage.
Would like to have owners comments on following issues pointed out since introduction of this vehicle.I may add all cars/dealerships have teething issues.However as we have had a full year cycle, comments on the vehicle as well as 3S Dealerships would be valuable information for potential buyers.
1/Horn issues, its availability under warranty and tedious replacement.
2/Water leakage through front windscreen in some cases during past rains.I believe no issue of water leakage with Panoramic sunroof.
3/Brakes not very effective or not as good as Honda Civic/Corolla
4/Alignment issues even on delivery of brand new car.Pulling towards left.Dealerships not taking responsibility and not prepared to correct it under warranty.
5/Silencer/Muffler rattling sound.
6/Spare parts non-availability and very expensive.
7/Catalytic Converter servicing insisted by dealerships within 10000 kms on payment to keep warranty valid.
8/General attitude of Dealerships barring few as uncooperative, unhelpful,lack of knowledge and expertise, avoidance of warranty claims as far as possible.Alleged delivery of scratched/damaged vehicles during transit and repainted/dented at dealerships.
Please note above issues picked up from personal experience of owners/potential buyers visiting showrooms.Any point missed maybe added by esteemed forum members.Hope KIA LUCKY Group takes cognisance for their own good.At the end I may add Sportage is a good addition to the market hence would need full support from KLG.
