I feel the comparison is too wide between Alpha and FWD while choice becomes difficult in the case of AWD and FWD.I personally feel AWD is not necessary in Pakistan except the really up north areas where one gets regular snow.It is certainly not an off-road car and must not be confused with 4 wheel drive.My research tells me that the FWD is more zippy, better fuel economy, and better resale while AWD no doubt has some extra goodies but is heavy on fuel, sluggish as compared to FWD and could be heavy on pocket in so far as maintenance in the long run is concerned.I would miss the powered/ leather seats and the front sensors of the FWD.Rest is inconsequential for me personally.

Went through the whole thread and really informative it is, my questions to folks here is i need to buy Sportage fr you cn say 2 years max so which variant should i buy?? Alpha or FWD?? I do have budget constraints aswell so if i go fr Alpha will it going to retain itz price similar to FWD in 2 years time span?? I knw FWD hz more market bt itz expensive aswell to buy in first place.

Safe option is to buy FWD. Because Alpha resale will be slow and in 4 lacks you're getting a lot more features in FWD.

Dear I bought alpha panthra metal and happy with it I agree it has low resales in comparison with Fwd but for budget constraints its best buy and its market also catching up

It's a 5 lakh difference between Alpha and FWD which is significant. Moreover Alpha sells because in comparison to Grande/Civic, it is only around 300k difference and offers an upgrade in vehicle class and practicality. Comparing to FWD, I personally don't find much use for a sunroof so it was an easy decision to book Alpha. I'm starting to see more alphas on the road and I think it will maintain its resale value, the worst that would happen is maybe it will not sell as quickly as a FWD.

By the way, there is not just a difference of a sunroof or panoramic roof between Sportage FWD and Alpha, there are more than a couple of other features as well which provide ease of use. Anyways, I'm not saying that Sportage Alpha is not value to money, in its price bracket, it's absolutely worth it, but FWD also justifies the price difference with the features it provides.

Yes, I know there are additional features, especially the e-brake and associated features like brake hold/hill assist, and the entire vehicle stability management system. I think Alpha is targeted primarily at customers (like me) who were considering Grande or Civic X, so it should be compared to those cars. In FWD price category, I would prefer the Proton X70 in terms of features and value for money. Hopefully they will be able to launch CKD without further delays.

I am of the opinion that the AWD might sell better than the FWD. A person looking for crossovers in the used car market with a budget of 5 million plus would be willing to spend the extra 3 to 4 lakhs to get all the bells and whistles of the top of the line variant. One of the biggest considerations for the used car buyer would be the AWD system with diff locker, which most people incorrectly confuse with a proper 4x4 configuration on a ladder-frame SUV. The thinking of the average used crossover buyer that "itnay paisay kharch ker kay bhi 4x4 nahi hay" is unfortunately a factor that you need to keep in mind. Having said that I think the FWD is a more value for money choice but the AWD version may sell better.
I booked two AWD variants in panthera metal and black last month with expected delivery in Feb, 2022.

Proton X70 is good, but with the uncertain delay in deliveries by Al-Hajj Motors and overall poor aftersales service, I would prefer Sportage FWD with peace of mind. What's the use of spending that much money and don't have peace of mind and have continuous mental stress because of the delay in the deliveries. I don't know about the future, but in the current market scenario, Sportage FWD is the best bet.

Agreed. I have bought FWD for the same reason. I'll wait for few years and see what's the best thing in the market. Plan to sell my Sportage then and get whatever is available with established market and after sales

Alpha is a really really nice car. On a personal level, I like it's rear lights more than my FWD. In headlights if you can get a branded HID, it would look awesome cause it already has projectors. Rest, it is the lightest, has the best fuel average, the best comfort (having more rubber) and the best acceleration. Must go for it
