I was in the same boat, almost booked Elantra at first but in the end went with Alpha. Main reasons included regular motorway travel with family, so extra luggage space is handy for me. Secondly it would be a change from driving a sedan all these years. Missing features in comparison to Elantra were VSC/TC, powered seat with lumbar support (no lumbar support in Alpha), LED headlights (can be upgraded) and sunroof, I guess I can live with those as the vehicle category is an upgrade and Elantra did feel a little cramped in the back seat to me.

Yar i booked it from Karachi, Shahra-e-Faisal dealership. The guy told me last week keh sept end main zehmat dainge aapko for full payment. He told me ke possible hai time par deliver hojaye warna nov 1st week. I booked in July.

Delivery update. Booked fwd on 7th April, delivered today. Pleasantly surprised since LMC + dealership said october late but hey i’m not complaining

I booked mine on 4 August, with October as expected delivery. This is from Islamabad though.. I think it won't happen before November.

I'm expecting to receive my FWD from KIA Clifton, Karachi. Made full payment last week, booked in first week of June was committed September delivery I think I will get it in second week of October. At least 2 weeks late which is not nice.

Tbh if I get the car 2 weeks late, I will be quite happy. We booked a Proton x70 CKD back in February when they told us production will start in June and promised delivery in October, now they are saying production won't start before January 2022 and deliveries unlikely any time before March 2022. So in comparison 2 weeks is absolutely nothing.

Understandable given the state of auto industry at this moment.

But this is start of new era in Pakistani auto industry, if customers don't raise their voice for whats right this will surely become a norm and then only the customer will be to blame. If a date was committed to me I should have the delivery on that date there should be no two opinions about it. These are multi-nationals not some newly founded startups that they cannot predict and plan.

It is not like I'm asking for delivery earlier than my scheduled date. There should be consequences if they are unable to meet the deadlines. The time when I booked whole world knew about the silicon shortages, transportation and pandemic delays, and now the dealership representative is giving excuses that "sir chips new mil rahi uski waja say delay hai".

Can anyone please comment on the Kibor +3 ruling, when does it exactly apply and what is the formula for its calculation? According to this post by zahid.geol I tried calculating it for KIA Sportage FWD and the equation seems to be something like this;

Pay Order Price: PKR 4,884,000
Pay Order Date (Full Payment): 16th September 2021

(4,884,000 x (7.57% + 3%) ÷ 365 (Days of year)) x 60 (Days in 2 months)
= 4,884,000 x (0.1057) ÷ 365 x 60
= 84861 per month
= 2828 per day

I'm confused about what is this 7.57%?

Assuming the calculation and formula above is correct, am I entitled to 2828 per day starting from 17th November 2021?

No.

The rule (I haven’t read the auto policy so not sure if it already is a law) is kibor+3 from the 61st day. With your numbers;

4,884,000*10.5% /360 = 1424/day

Calculate your car delivery day and figure out the number pf days above 61.

In my case, full payment on 7th april, delivery on 20th September. # of days above 60 would be 103 appx * 1424 = pkr 146,672 is the amount i should be getting from Kia.

Question is, will i get it? I dont know

Alright thanks for the clarification. I was expecting to receive the car by mid October but now the dealership is making excuses and trying to delay till November. I think if we are getting it in November (worst case) why not get it early next year then?

I think KIA is liable to pay it as this the law. Otherwise FBR and State Bank can be brought into the matter and KLM definitely wouldn't like that for such a low amount.

Yes the excuses are total BS. The chip shortage and freight issues were already there during booking, so I expected the committed delivery date to already have taken that into account. Unfortunately in Pakistan there is no such thing as professionalism, whether you go to a car dealership or any other business. No one is a man of their word and when time comes for delivery there is ALWAYS an excuse.

Totally agree.About time Consumers begin to fight for their rights.There are Consumer courts at nominal charges.I haven't experienced one but believe there are three in Karachi one being in Clifton.Worth trying them out.Right now KIA is taking a comfortable period of full five months presumably to cover chip shortages if any and freight movement.There has to be no excuse acceptable after 5/6 months.

UPDATE: Booking of Sportage FWD is closed till further notice. (Confirmed from KIA Metropolis as well as KIA Potohar in Islamabad). However, Sportage AWD and Alpha can still be booked with tentative delivery in March and January 2022 respectively.
