Congratulations. Personally I was thinking of two upgrades, roof rails and leds (for Alpha's halogen headlights). LEDs are actually a very safe aftermarket upgrade especially if you get a reputed brand like Philips Ultinon. New LEDs are plug and play and twice as bright as halogens in projectors, plus the colour will match the DRLs. I did want to get a ceramic coating, but I guess one can make do with regular waxing as well.

I called today for the status on mine and they did not give me any news on delivery status, apparently they have absolutely no idea which is strange. They also said I have to deposit an extra 4,000 for increased freight charges, which is a new development. I asked about the price increase and they said we haven't received the price list from the company yet and they don't know themselves who it will be applicable on.

What is purpose of roof rail?

Purely cosmetic, the roof just looks a little naked without the rails really. It's just to complete the crossover look.

I have been reading up on car detailing/watching youtube videos and I am thinking of doing ceramic coating myself. Planning to order this one (Carpro Cquartz) through someone coming from the US. The coating itself is the easy part, the hard part is doing the paint correction before coating. But it can be done DIY if you have the right tools and follow the instructions. It will probably require an entire day of your time though.

Coating is useless untill base is properly prepared.

You would have to use a polisher and it should be da as you are a beginner and should have proper pads.

First you should wash your cars observing all details

Next you should do decontamination by a clay media and iron remover

Next you should try to use 2 in 1 compound + finishing polish as 1 step as doing separately will be a hell.

Next you should do an ipa wipe.

Then apply coating and let it cure in an shaded area for almost 24 hours

Thanks, this is in line with everything I've read, and yes DA polisher for beginners. If you can recommend the right products available locally like pads, compound, finishing polish, that would be great. Perhaps cost wise if might work out to same as that charged by professional detailers, but I want to do this as a personal project and it will be more satisfying.

As for roof rails, I am not sure how that works since OEM style rails are available at all accessories stores. Maybe they use double sided tape.

Went to dealership to deposit an extra 4k in freight charges for Sportage Alpha (freight cost increased this month). They said I will receive it some time this month. Asked about the price increase, price increase is already implemented but they are trying to get relief for customers with October deliveries and fully paid. Honestly what he told me did not sound encouraging, and it seems like I will be penalised for KIA's inability to deliver on time + launch that ridiculous flop Stonic. In case of price increase, I am already planning ahead and shortlisting used Civics or Elantra, which should be a much better deal if they don't increase prices. Definitely not paying 4,789,000 for a Sportage Alpha.

I have a feeling if I booked black or white, mujhey bhi mil jati. It doesn't make sense as they took the money at that time, and applying price increase to all old bookings means they just imported the CKD parts now, otherwise there is no justification for an increase. The problem really is there is no regulatory authority that looks after consumer rights in the auto sector, otherwise this insane policy of 'price at the time of delivery will apply' would never exist. This only exists on your PBO due to cartel action for the auto manufacturers.
