I suggest Kia to remove some features like moonroof/ dual ac etc to cut down the cost to 4 million, this will give a simple choice to people going to buy Civic and Grande, further people like me (who dont want to spend 5 million on a car) would go for it. it will be a third variant (AWD/FWD/My suggestion)

If you’re comfortable without a sunroof,
can deal with smaller displacement let’s say 1.5litre engine
obviously no AWD or other auto shashkay

and how about a third row seating arrangement instead of a large boot

then you already have an option

You will definitely feel the difference in build quality as compared to other PKDM

Been using brand new Hondas since 2007 (won’t compare with Suzuki as it’s a different category). In terms of features, ride comfort and build quality Sportage is unprecedented.

In my view the main drawback would be fuel average for many.

Until the Tucson comes in Sportage is practically in a class where there’s no real competition from local players. Dr Tariq Azeem may shed some light on comparability of Vitara, whose spec sheet doesn’t impress for the price.

Sir Vitara is absolutely CRAP @ 55.5 lacs....
It can max be at 40-41 considering what its offering and Sportage at 49

Yes, the Vitara was perfect at its launching price of 38 lacs. It was even sold for 33-35 lacs in end of 2017 and 2018.

Even at launch it was at insane price....
GLX fully loaded was at 37 when civic was 2720 fully loaded.... at that time 1 mil more was too high and that too for a Suzuki Badge.
Fortuner was at 52-56
They then sold at 30-32 aswell to clear stock.
Now civic is 37 and Vitara is 55....

its a good reasonable compact suv which was killed by napak suzuki from very start with its price.

the reason of Sportage selling is because of these options added as standard and few more options on AWD variants, that wat i like about Sportage. Few things i didnt like is fuel average of awd and engine power/torque.

My experience with Honda resale has been that the relatively econo brand case in point City is more desirable in the cheapest trim - manual 1.3. Aspire with 1.5litre engine, leather seats and auto doesn’t sell that well. On the other hand the relatively premium model Civic’s demand is for top of line UG package.

This is similar to the Corolla Xli vs Altis too.

Based on this market sentiment my feeling is that the sparser models of Sportage wouldn’t have as much demand. As it was rightly mentioned half the charm of Sportage is the accessories and features - strip them off then it’ll be similar to a base-version UN/embassy auctioned white Land Cruiser posing to be similar to a Cygnus.

No autonomous parking system. Parking sensors beep with a visual between the tach and speedometer as to proximity and location of obstacle.
