Agreed. A bumper touch up and full paint of bumper is OK and happens even in Europe and US. A dealer dont need to tell the customer and KIA dont need to tell its customer about the damage.
but the situation can arises after a year. A factory painted bumper and paint at workshop outside the factory can never be same. Overseas car makers give warranty on the paint for atleast 3 year and on some cases for 5 years. We dont have any rust or paint warranty, any variation in paint is now the owner headach..
Additionally there is certain criteria and extent upto which a dealer can repair a car before delivery. Also all cars before delivery are insured by dealer. In case of hail, its declared total loss and it's auctioned by insurance companies. In case of body damage/ dent, it depends how much is the damage.
So, in case of PK after weathering cycles, the aftermarket paint CAN show variation and I say CAN and I dont mean it will for sure show difference. As we dont have warranty for paint protection, it becomes little concerning.
The damage to Sportage bumpers and repairs and repaint might not be a big issue at time of delivery and it will look 100% accurate BUT I came to know about some inside news and I wanted to share it with members here, so they should properly inspect the vehicle before taking delivery.
Also regardless , one must inspect the vehicle completley. We all get excited at time of delivery and sometime people skip checking things.
As of KIA bumper or for that matter any other bumper of any other brand and model, a scratch to bumper and repaint might be OK, but if the damage to bumper is to extent that it needs extensive filler or if the " NAKKAY" got damaged and some JUGGAR" is done to make it look perfect, then I cant make an opinion.
By the way the Sportage replacement bumper cost PKR 100,000/- So take care of your bumpers. This does not include the paint.
The denter took around 30-40K per vehicle for repair and paint.
