So now that Tucson is coming in, they're bringing in a newer trim to keep buyers interested in Sportage. Now, Tucson base manual will be more expensive than Sportage base auto.

I guess KIA anticipated the launch of competitors such as Tucson down the line, so initially, they launched well specced variants to establish themselves in the market and not offer the cheapest product possible just for the sake of it. Now, they have no choice but to offer the best bang for buck.

The Mid 4 Million pricing for Sportage or Tucson will not only hurt Civic and Corolla but can also hurt launch of Elantra and Forte [ if Kia launch it] , if these are priced above 4 Million. We are sure about Elantra arrival and maybe Hyundai keep a price gap between the base Tucson and Elantra so, they don't damage sales of their own product. I sense that the Fully loaded Elantra will be 3.7 Million, this way they will keep it under base Sportage as well. Our market is small and not like Europe and US where every segment more or less sells. In our market people have set budget and they look for available models.

Just a news. Hyundai is also planning 2.0 Elantra.
Expect it to be atleast same or a bit higher in pricing compared to Civic/Corolla.

The 2L Infact is the same engine as in Sportage or Tucson.

Previously 2.0 was not planned and they wanted to give push start and moonroof in 1.6. But now they are working on 2.0 aswell

All depends on their marketing and dealerships/3S.

Big $$ spending will make it possible, but don't think Regal group has as much funding as Lucky. So what you said is likely true but it will still be an option for consumers.

The base model gives another chance to some buyers at lower cost option BUT at lower features which is Typical. It’s some unfortunate that “SAFETY” also comes under chopping knife when low ended variant of a model are offered in Pakistan. Vehicle Stability control is the most important feature in vehicles safety and control and especially for taller vehicles and SUV’s . I wish KIA didn’t eliminate the basic standard feature which they offer standard everywhere else outside Pakistan. I always thought KIA will put a new benchmark in vehicle safety BUT I was wrong. First they cut on side airbags even on their top of the line AWD variant which they offer standard outside Pakistan and now the VSC. Even Yaris sedan now has a standard VSC.

Sportages engines get burned and there's a lawsuit for it in USA.

So it's not all that reliable in terms of safety.

Pathetic to remove stability control even in the base variant in 2020. For a vehicle that costs 4.4 million.
