were you not able to go over 90-100 speed at 30k km only? That means catcon is clogged.

When you "cleaned" it, you actually ruined it. It wasn't stopping harmful emissions anymore. Should have just taken it out, as you were polluting the environment anyway.

It only clogs if you hypermile or drive at light foot at all times. If you take your car on a long run every now and then, and push it (hard foot/high rpm) drive for 20 mins once every 3 weeks or so. Cat doesn't get chocked at all.

Both issues must be dealt under warranty.About catalytic converter this is the biggest scam now.Why would you need to clean it just after 10-20k.

so, Toyota and Suzuki are being jaahil gawaars here saying the fuel is fine.

Only Honda, Audi, Porsche are correctly pointing out manganese toxicity in the fuel. Why is the govt sleeping?

How can they allow this excess toxic material in our environment?

Yes after 30k km my City 1.5 was not able to cross even 120km/ hr and struggle alot to reach even 100km)hr. The i got it cat con opened and there is a thick layer of red mud type dust on face o,f both secondary and primary cats .

Honda Pit shop Gujrat diagnosed the problem and cleaned cat by scraching the thick layer off from both the prim and secondary cat and use air to take out dust. I takes him 1hr to softly scratch and buff. So that no harm is done to the cat con..

Second insident took place with my Ciaz whose cat gets clogged at 40k km .

My Honda Civic Reborn cat con gets clogged at 25k km the cat was bought in 2010 from honda fort and done 25thiusand km in 2018 now with in two years we drove it to 1lack 20thisand

Definitely need to change fuel pumps and driving habits.

I've never heard of any cat con getting that bad so early.

I agree in that there's nothing unusual about catcons getting choked in Pakistan even in low mileage cars. What you described earlier was high levels of MMT in our fuels which leave orange deposits.

Having said that, catcon is definitely not a regularly serviceable item as KLM is allegedly doing. Personally I've never had a choked catcon in any of my cars. Dayrider is right cuz it's the bad fuel which causes catcon to choke (as you yourself also described) so if you're consistently having catcon issues in multiple cars, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change your fuel station.

If people just stop falling for hobc, cat lasts longer.. mmt is there in hobc..but do we see more cat issues in euro4 complaint cars? I guess. I doubt if cat is cleaned like this in rest of the world. Yahan to business ban chukaa hai ye.

People put hobc in standard cars believing car will fly and end p ruining cat a lot earlier

Yeah I agree. Notwithstanding the fact that cats definitely go bad a lot here, cat cleaning has become too much of a thing here. Nice way to fleece unsuspecting customers.

Fuel is the most important factor, for premature clogging / failure of Catalytic Converter.

Try to use fuel from Shell and Total only, and preferably, company operated / maintained, and / or reputed fuel pumps.

HASCOL and PSO are also good options.

Due to lack of rules and regulations, and danda from our Govt., I think all such issues. Otherwise, where regulators are there; they are strong, independent, play effective role and keep a strict check and balance (like SBP in case of banking sector), such issues are hardly there.
