There are 3 variants of stonic being sold in phillipines.

735000 (manual)
835000 and 935000 (auto).

24 to 31 lac pakistani rupees.

Picanto 1.0 auto is 635000 there which is around 20.5 pakistanis.

Sportage alpha variant is around 43 lac pakistanis there.

So i think the prices in pakistan should be comparable to the prices in phillipines.

Today i went to kia showroom sialkot , unhone stonic ek container mein band ki hui hai aur container sealed hai.

Acoording to them price will be between 35 and 40, given than cars price are going to increase sharply next month.

Pakwheel editors se research karai hy tu phr Picanto and Sorento ki tera flop he honi hy. 4 million buyer should go with Sportage Alpha/FWD obviously.

In my case, I will go with Elantra or if possible Sportage FWD.

Same is the case at Kia Port Qasim Karachi, There is a big container with red curtain on outside their parking display area. Looks like will be available on display by next week.

The true picture of a car's sales is available after at least 3 years from launch. The first 2 years data is unreliable because dealers are pouring money into the market and buying up all the cars. But if the offloading of these cars is slow then dealers will not book as many units going forward. And this trend takes 2-3 years to emerge.

Stonic is going to face a hard time if launched in the 3-4 million range as it has a small engine and back seats will definitely be crampy in a small crossover.......effectively it'll be relegated to a young couple's car only with adults only in the front and kids in the back. Consequently, Corolla/Civic/Elantra will give it a pretty tough time as they have bigger engines, pretty big trunks, and can also seat adults in the back. And if Stonic is now in AWD, then Corolla will outperform it on all terrains with its high ground clearance.

Better to wait at least 3 years to get an idea about the market demand, resale, popularity, etc.

Stonics price range might be comparable to Yaris and City, But its definitely not a competitor, Just like Sportage buyer buys it out of shashka only (Sportage has lesser ground clearance then a Yaris).

Stonic buyers dont need a car to fit in their family, Its a luxury car for many who have the budget and don't want to buy the usual City, Civic, Corolla, Yaris.

KIA is putting a car in every budget and changing the game with a different product offering.

Picanto is killing the masser (Cultus, Wagonr, Swift, Alto even Vitz)

Sportage upgraded Civic / Corolla buyers and giving lesser budget buyers a brand new car over 10/20 year used Jeeps.

The End of Corolla Xli opened up venues for City to increase its price, Changan and Proton to bring smaller sedans in the market so definetly space for a smaller Cross Over.

People have been purchasing Vezels and Audi Q2s for a much larger amount of money.

Stonic is possitioned righly unless another player enters the market, Honda Pakistan is expected to come up with a local HRV but if HRV comes locally assembled it would be a older generation and pricier then the BRV, Stonic is atleast a fresh sight to look at.

Issue is, it's not a Vezel competitor.

It's significantly smaller and almost equal to Vitz the hatchback.

Vezel itself is quite small but at least gives the looks of a small SUV.

Stonic dimensions, utility and pricing will define its future. People advocating pricing between 3.5 - 4 million have a different agenda .

One need to understand the target customers and their buying power. IMO it is an alternative option for middle class buyers. But if they price it higher then its target customers will become upper middle class buyers wrt pricing. These buyers will seldom choose it due to already better alternative available in the market. Lastly, it ain't a luxury car. Just another econo hatchback on steroids.

If they price it lower now and increase it suddenly it would be bad image as well... So KLM in

Yes KIA dealership on GT road is saying possibly first week of November.
Comparing Stonic to Vezel in dimensions - its 1 inch smaller in width and wheel base but almost 6 inch smaller in overall length. So, inner cabin space should still be similar to Vezel but Boot space will be much smaller compared to Vezel.
