Sedans will always drive better than crossovers and SUVs as long as the comparisons are in the same league. However, crossovers and SUVs have more space than their comparable sedan and higher ground clearance making them ideal for people who like adventures and travel which are all very limited in scope here.
Another comparison is that if stonic comes out close to 3.5-4.0 million it will not be competing against the small car league such as Cultus, Saga, Swift, Yaris, City, etc. but will be taking on the big boys such as Elantra, Civic and Corolla with pretty big cabins, engines and trunk space. And often these small entry level crossovers (like most small sedans) are designed for young couples so intended to house adults in the front and kids in the back. Whereas Elantra, Civic and Corolla can now seat two full size adults in the front and two modest size/height adults in the back coupled with higher ground clearances. Personally, I think Corolla Cross has potential here too with 1.8 or bigger engine given the high penetration of Fielder in the market. I wonder what's keeping Toyota from launching a CKD here.
