Kixx transmission oil in manual honda city

Hi All,
I have a question here after so kuch confusion i recently got my gear oil changed. I opted for kixx 75w-80w gear oil as it was of the same grade that honda used in cars and my mechanic also told me mot to worry about as its a manual car and the grade should match
Overall the gear shifting gets smoother than before and I’ve found no issues uptill now
Is this ok or should this oil will destroy my gearbox as its a manual car.....

Where did u get this info about Honda transmission gear taking 75W-80W GL4/GL5 gear oil? Try buying original HONDA MTF and compare its viscosity with the one you opted for. This oil will destroy your transmission. Honda MTF takes 15W40 oil with some specific additives. Best is to use Delo Gold Ultra which is far better than HONDA MTF itself and has same viscosity as genuine Honda Manual Transmission Fluid.

You should have checked the owners manual at least first before replacing the oil. Honda manual transmissions normally do not use gear oils. They recommend simple engine oils with specific viscosity.

I have a bit confusion
I have seen alot of people using zic mt oil
does it ruin gear box too?

Ok and one more thing
I was reading on kixx official site 75W has the same viscosity as that of 10W 40
Just wanted to clarify it if thats true?
It it is that i have opted for the same grade as that of suggested by the honda

How can 75 grade oil have same viscosity as 40 grade? Its like saying 5kg weighs same as 10kg
Use honda mtf or delo as pointed above, anything else, geaebox is in trouble

GL gear oils 75W; he is right, has probably same weight as engine oil of SAE 10W-40.

Viscosity is not the problem here. It is actually additives in the GL gear oils which are not good for some gear components. These are corrosive for some brass based parts of the gear boxes. Hence you should use only the oil recommended by the OEM.

You cannot even use a GL-5 gear oil in a gear box where GL-4 is recommended. If Honda is not recommending a GL oil there should be some reason behind it. Using any other oil will damage the cars gearbox and a premature failure.

Hi, can you share update that what happened with your car later? did you change your gear oil again or you continued using KIXX GL 4. If you are using GL4, how has been experience?
