dear friends, yesterday ptdc ki site say maloom hua k kkh close hai till 13 aug . i m leaving for khunjrab on 14 , is it safe to go there in these conditions regarding security and weather.experts advice required

Its very difficult for any1 to predict/offer expert opinion regarding security and weather.

Since 2010, Pakistan is facing a different monsoon pattern. Before 2010, monsson not used to cross the Himalyas and Babusar Pass. Chilas, Ghizar, Upper Swat was now also got affect from monsoon and receiving floods in monsoon.

Get connected to Pakistan Meteorological Department The monsoon system widespread rains must be avoided. Normal rain prediction are not to worry about.

NATCO has shut its services in these dates as its holiday for their employees but its open for private buses and other vehicles.

I just checked today in Naran and Chilas.

KKH is open and Babusar Pass is only open for light traffic i.e. jeeps can cross.

The search operation was done in Chilas but road was not blocked.

I have just talked to @taimur76 bhai. He has just reached Astore via Babusar Pass. Babusar Pass was open till Babusar Top but ahead it was blocked so he took the Batugah route and reached Chilas and then Astore.

Chilas is open and KKH is not blocked. Lots of army presence in Chilas but road was open and there was no blockage because of security reason.
