KKH from Hasanabdal to Kashgar

Yes plan is to go via road and see the complete KKH till Kashgar, but for this i need 6 persons along with there complete documents including police certificate.
* currently this plan is in starting phase trying to get my friends ready.
* Tourism visa in only available for group of more than 5 person ( as per Chinese embassy website ).
* Last year i did receive all the documents from Chinese travel company but 2 of my friends fail to get there police certificate.

It seems that going by road is a big problem. If you go by air is it easier? Or same formalities are required? I have gone to China twice but on business trips on invitation of companies there. So I don't know how the tourism visa formalities work.

Adventure is to go to China by road.
I can get China visa , but some of my friends want to go also .
we are not planning to go too much deep in China , may be till Kashgar (max).
Issue is for first time visa the agents here are charging more than 100k

That is why i want to give tourism visa a try.

That's a very nice and adventurous initiative but if you are going as a tourist i would suggest you to go by air to Beijing and Shanghai. Those cities are worth seeing. Kashgar no doubt is China but in my opinion your efforts and money would not be worth it. Maybe after you have seen Beijing and Shanghai you can plan a road trip to Kashgar or Urumqi.

Yes you are right , i have been to these cities and would love to see Shanghai and Beijing again and again.

But issue with me is this that , my friends want to go and we do not complete the six person group.
Also we want to keep the budget of the tour to minimum.
Also we want to have some adventure.

Ok I understand. If you have already seen Beijing and Shanghai then an adventure by road to Kashgar is fine. I would suggest to extend it to Urumqi so at least you will see a bigger city. I wish i could have joined you but no time at hand.

Tashkurgan is only about 100~200km from the border. I think it is just a village. Probably nothing to see there except the natural scenery along the roadside. Sir, you must try to make it till Kashgar at least.

Yes , NATCO goes till Kashgar @3200 , last year i confirmed it from there office.

I think we will be able to make it till Kashgar .
Coming back from Kashgar by air is also in mind , as Rayyan Air will start its operations in March.

That's a great plan. I had initially planned to drive to China but gave it up as too many restrictions in driving to China in own vehicle. So now my plan is to take bus to Kashgar and then train to Beijing and Shanghai. This plan is still just in my mind and i don't know when it will materialize. But I hope sometime in near future . Yes , that is the plan a real good plan ,but it requires time which unfortunately we do not have .
Your plan can easily take 10-15 days to reach Beijing.

Yes, it takes about a 4~5 days to reach Beijing by train. And then onwards. Maybe needs one complete month to reach Beijing, Shanghai and then back. Let's see when it happens. I'm in no hurry.

I am planning to visit Urumqi(may be Kashghar as well) in mid April or start of May with some friends. We will be travelling from HongKong to Urumqi via train. I you guys can make a plan by then we can make our schedule accordingly so that we can have more people there to roam around.

We are planning and trying to get visas , hopefully we will be able to get them this time.
our plan is also in the month of April , hopefully we will meet there in Kashgar.

on suggestion , if you are coming this far then you should also come to Pakistan via Khunjerab pass and KKH , then take the flight back to HK.

Yes @itrash I have been planning for that long time ago but can't spare enough time as it can take 3/4 days to reach ISB from Kashghar. Might I am lucky enough to spare enough time. However, if unluckily I can't manage time, probably I will complete rest of journey in another leg from Kashgar to ISB and sometime from Urumqi to silk road especially central asian countries.

Yes , time is the main reason , your tour will still require i guess about 15 days .

please make sure they are allowing immigration at border for visa holders , because a friend was interested in going on his jeep and he was unable to do so, he was told that he can only go by air. It also depends if you are from GB then some rules are different

was he denied entry due to his own vehicle ???
