KKH from Hasanabdal to Kashgar

Dear All

We are planning the following trip in the month of MAY - 2016.

Number of persons = 6 ( 1 from Lahore ,5 from Islamabad )

Here is the Plan.:):)

Day 1 > From Islamabad to Gilgit via NATCO.
Day 2 > Reach Gilgit, Gilgit to Sust and then to Tashkurgan.
Day 3 > Tashkurgan to Kashgar via Karakul lake ( On private vehicle )
Day 4 > Reach Kashgar .
Day 5 > Stay at Kashgar.
Day 6 > Back to Tashkurgan and night stay.
Day 7 > Tashkurgan to Sust and then to Gilgit or Hunza as time permits.
Day 8 > Back to Islamabad.

Any suggestions and comments are appreciated .

If you're going through all the trouble to get visa, why you are restricting yourself to Kashgar? Why not go all the way to Tibet and other places as well?

i heard tibet is very beautiful and also the train journey will be very good experience at that height.

If you're going through all the trouble to get visa, why you are restricting yourself to Kashgar? Why not go all the way to Tibet and other places as well?

Its leas than 1% chance of getting into Tibet. I tried entering Tibet via friendship highway from Nepal. Travel agent in Kathmandu said "we" are not allowed to enter China by road. So at the end I confined myself to Nepal and saw everest on a mountain safari flight.

Later I tried to reach via beijing and then 24 hours Tibet train. Alas....you need to book through a travel agent in China and has to be a group. Then special permit needed to enter Tibet and then another and finally a different one to enter Everest region in Tibet.

quite a hassle to go to tibet from china i think due to disputes between them.

This sounds interesting. As far as I know, tourist visa to China is not available for Pakistanis. We can only enter through a business visa. Travelling to Kashgar on public transport is a good idea if a visa can be obtained. Please let us know how everything goes.

Dear All

Finalized all the details with one tour operator .
The most important thing for the tourist visa is the "POLICE CLEARANCE / CHARACTER CERTIFICATE" which should be attested from "Ministry of Foreign affairs"
we were not able to apply for the visa only because one of the person could not get the Clearance certificate in time .

So now again planning and this time will book the tour from tourist operator for only those persons who have the Character certificate (and also attested), got mine attested today

Due to some personal issues and non availability of some documents of my friends we were not able to apply for visa.
This year i am again trying to get my friends together .
If anyone interested and they can get "Police Certificate" they can join us .
