me and my friends will be more than happy to answer any questions you have if we can...actually the reason this experience is shared is that i have seen many websites for guiding foreigners but unfortunately no such good platform exists for local tourists..we also got a lot of info from pak wheels and wanted to return this favour...

I remember my days in past 1998-2000, I was a regular commuter to Gilgit and Skardu
NTCO takes 16 hours to reach Gilgit and 22 Hours to Skardu, now the situation is bit changed

I traveled Khunjrab on personal Hiace, there was not Attabad Lake it was plain road crossing Gulmit, but I wonder that all areas is under water now.

Have you visited Khunjrab Top ???, Pakistani Army Post was in miserable condition at that time and our Border Barrier was just a broken telephone pole ...

1) Whats the estimated travel time from Mansehra to Chilas if we go on our own car? Your thread shows that you travelled from Mansehra to Chilas in 14 hours with three stopovers. If we take just one stop and drive on a reasonable speed, can we make it in 10 hours?

2) Whats the exact location of Rakaposhi view point? How much away from Jaglot?

It took us about 12 hrs from Mansehra to chillas but that was because we were traveling with the convoy on our return in a private car it took only 15 hrs from gilgit to pindi..so yes you can easily do mansehra to chillas in 10 hrs..

rakaposhi view point lies in the way of hunza..when you travel from gilgit to karimabad..almost an hours drive from gilgit

jaglot comes when you travel from chillas to gilgit..i think you are confusing it with nanga parbat..when you cross rai kot bridge and travel towards jaglot to your right comes a board that says "look to your right nanga parbat the killer mountain" but you might only see it if you are extremely lucky..its not as clear as rakaposhi

this cub was found stuck in snow in dec last year by the local wildlife team..it was 6-8 months old then and the mother was not there..so the locals kept it and take its care as the locals are part of the conservation program.. this was a make shift arrangement and we were told that the cub now more than an year old will be shifted to some cooler place in naltar..the food for the leopard came from the wildlife department and wwf team visted regularly to check on its health...the young guy there said they dont know what decision will be taken as it normally takes 2 yrs or even more for a snow leopard to start hunting and for this little guy with no training from its mother it might not be able to hunt the ibex or markhor

Thanks for clarification Arsalan bhai, i was, like others, worried about the living conditions for the cub. it would be nice of wildlife it is shifted to Naltar. These animals are extremely shy and do not like to be trespassed. Naltar would be more closer to nature.

Our plan is to leave mansehra at 5am and travel all the way to astore. Its around 15 hours route considering 10 hours for Chilas. Thanks for motivating us on this. If we reach Chilas in 10 hours, we can definitely move on to reach astore. Regarding Rakaposhi, we would not be able to see it coz its way ahead of Gilgit.

no.2 ap logon nay jin hotels main stay kia hay kindly un hotels ka naam or room rent mention ker dain .
no .3 agar main apni car coure ko attabad lake via boat cross karoon to kia ye behter faisla hoga ya apni car ko karimabad main park kar doon .
