The Kohinoor motorcycle was a product of the Saigols Group of Companies. Their current auto venture is Saigols Qingqi Motors Limited, which resumed production in mid 90s to manufacture 100cc bikes under the 'KMW' marque. KMW stands for Kohinoor Motor Works. Later, they entered into a JV with Qingqi of China and started assembling the Qingqi bikes and three-wheeler motorcycle rickshaws. However, now they are planning to end their partnership with Qingqi, because they have signed an MoU with Bajaj of India to progressively manufacture Bajaj bikes at their plant. This project is waiting approval from the Pakistani govt.
Now the original Kohinoor bike of 70s.... I had seen its ads in magazines of 60s/70s in my home some 7-8 years ago. I'll have to search for that magazine to get info about that Kohinoor bike, when I go to my home in Dera Ismail Khan. Let's see if I am able to locate it.
By the way, there were some other local motorcycle brands as well, if some one of you can recall... I remember having seen TV ads of Shahsawar/Shehzore motorcycles in late 80s. I was too young at that time.
