KTM Duke 390

Got myself a KTM Duke 390 a few days back. Made in India by Bajaj.....though its an Austrian Company.....bajaj owns a 47% stake....

Costs me around 2,00,000/- INR....close to 3,50,000/- PKR..

Amazing Bike.....44 BHP....just 139 Kgs.....that gives it an astounding power to weight ratio of about 300 Ps/ton

Does a 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 secs......top at around 170 kmph

Heats up a fair bit......needs open roads....difficult to ride in traffic.....
Still an amazing job done by Bajaj.

Quality is top notch....it being a european company.......reliability is yet to be found out, it being a very new offering........but I guess it'll be good too, as the duke 200 did pretty well......the digital console shows a lot of info like.... average speed....current millage....distance to empty....distance to next service....gear indicator.....gear shift indicator.....liters of fuel used per hundred kilometers....blah blah....lots of electronics.....lil scary....this makes the console complex...

Exactly ! .. We always cry about how our local companies are not launching this kinda new-tech bikes in Pakistan .. Let's just assume that even if they DID (Not possible but just assume for a second) ..What you gonna do about roads ? ..

I have my eye on getting a KTM 690 Enduro R or the bigger KTM 1190 Adventure, but only if these are reliable bikes. They are designed very well, no doubt. Do you have any pictures and details about how the console works?

The KTM 690 and above are definitely going to be top notch quality bikes being made in Europe....the 390 is being made in India for the rest of the world....thats why quality concern......but you can go with the 690 and the 1190 eyes closed......these guys have won almost all endurance rallies....

Very true!! Even traffic is a big concern.....for the 60 kms I've ridden it so far, I was able to engage the 6th gear only twice.....that too only for a couple of minutes.......I always wanted to go for an even more powerful bike.....but after riding this....I'm not going for anything more powerful.....where are the roads to ride them

Very true!! Even traffic is a big concern.....for the 60 kms I've ridden it so far, I was able to engage the 6th gear only twice.....that too only for a couple of minutes.......I always wanted to go for an even more powerful bike.....but after riding this....I'm not going for anything more powerful.....where are the roads to ride them

Haha now that you've mentioned "Traffic" .. It sure is a pain in the *** .. Here in Karachi traffic gets jammed like hell .. Even a 70cc bike gets difficult to ride in some situations .. It doesn't rain a lot here .. But when it does .. Roads & Traffic become a nightmare .. Anyways Congrats on your purchase .. Masha Allah its an awesome bike .. Allah Pak naseeb karay apko Ameen Summa Ameen .. btW spare-sparts wagera ka kya karogey aap agar kabhi zarurat pari ? .. And which engine oil are you gonna use for this little beast of yours ?

Thanks!! KTM has more than 70 showrooms across India, they will be servicing the bike. The bike is being manufactured in India so spares is no issue. I'll be using Motul 7100 for the engine....thats what the Indian manual mentions... its 15w50.....

No, the bajaj A.S.S. does not service the duke......Thanks for the wishes:).....have ordered riding gear.....yet to receive.....have also been waiting for my helmet for the last 2 months....:S
