As far as question.. this is not an airbag. If I go by your statement then Toyota did a good job by introducing parachute. .

Air bag has horizontal or vertical creases stiched.
Toyota introduced side/curtain airbags in lexus GX and Landcruiser in model year 2003 onwards.

Also I have a difficult to understand why that green shade on Driver Side windscreen on the outsde?

Curtain airbag comes in one piece all the way from A pillar to C.. so it will remain hanging inside the vehicle not outside common sense is the bag will not fly outside. The B pillar will keep it inside. For your understanding I am placing a typical /generic curtain airbag below. They have air or no air the curtsin will remain inside..

In some airbags you cant see stitching after they deploy like in photo below and it can go out of the window after it deployed cuz its like a piece of cloth or wind can also make it go out and its not flying it it just stuck cuz of that side mirror it wont go out cuz of pillar when it is inflated

its just non-sense saying it
what good will possibly the airbag do on the outside

the cloth type thing you see from the window is the car cover used to cover the car afterwards
most prolly the interior pic is not taken at the incident site rather its taken afterwards

In physics we read about centripetal and centrifugal force.

Vehicle size, design also makes an impact on these forces and SUV's are one of them

But as the pictures are two years old.. the car will already be fixed and running on the road with an existing or new owner proud to be owner of a vehicle with scratch less body. original paint.. never abused.. very well kept immaculate condition. showroom body..
