If you leave early you can go through Gujranwala city before morning rush-hour and even have breakfast there, else use the bypass. Take bypasses at Wazirabad and Gujrat.
Just out of Jhelum city you can try the fruit chat, there are several shops, I don't remember the name of the original one, but its the one covering two adjacent plots(April 2009). On the left coming from Lahore.
You can visit Rohtas Fort, 8 kilometers off GT Road.
At Mangla Dam (Army water sports centre???) , go for a boat ride, I would suggest you hire the big boat exclusively, it will be more expensive, but more fun (Rs. 500 for the five of us, in Feb 2008). It is slower, but you can walk around in it and take good pictures, takes about 18 - 20 minutes for the round. The faster, smaller boat charged Rs. 300, and takes 7 - 8 minutes for the round, you have to sit on the seats and no space to move around.
Mirpur has good shopping centres and I found good quality items of clothing at reasonable prices, including imported ones.
