Lancer CVT gets stuck

I have a Lancer glx 1.6 auto. There's a strange issue that sometimes pops up.
Sometimes the gear gets stuck, when I drive the car doesn't change gear, seems like its stuck in L (low) gear. And if I put it in reverse or drive, a big jerk (very big) occurs. If I move the gear lever all the way to L gear and shift back to D, everything gets normal.
This happens from time to time. I've even changed the gearbox but still this happens. Now the mechanic is telling me the shifter is not alright.
Has this happened to anyone here? Please help!

so you swapped the transmission before asking question here? is that correct assumption

@sardarg Yes I had the transmission replaced about 6 months ago and I've driven less than 5k kms after that. I have two options now for the shifter, a used (kaabli) shifter worth 12K or new japanese worth 13.5, I'm attracted towards the new option, what do you suggest?

I think you have wasted money replacing a gear box, if you can tell us how much a gear box cost you?
Actually there is an electric grip above a gear box, when the car runs through a flooded roads the water gets into the grip and disturb the shifting, you must have noticed, after the weather gets dry, the problem subsided in dry weather
