Land Cruiser 1998 to Cygnus 2005

Is it possible to convert a Land Cruiser 1998 model (full options) to a cygnus 2005 model? This question basically entails 2 parts:

1- Can the Dashboard along with steering etc be changed? Also the gear portion?

2-Can the front lights be changed from a single big light to the cygnus type 2 lights?

Is your LC diesel or Petrol. Does it have leather seats and active suspension?

The dashboard without navigation won't be a big problem. With navigation he will need to sort out some electrical stuff but it has been done before.

The exterior can be upgraded by changing the bonnet, headlamps. Grill, bumper, some inner supports. You also need to change the door claddings and rear trunk doors to make it proper Cygnus from outside.

What most people do is they just change the front and let the rear be original LC which makes it look stupid and incomplete.

The 1998-2002 had four speed auto with straight gear shifter while the 2003 plus had gate type shifter (zig zag) and 5 speed. That means you need to change the gearbox to fit the new lever and yes also the ECU.

Thank you very much for the information. I already have a diesel LC but im buying another one. That too will be diesel and have leather seats.

1- Will having a diesel engine or petrol and having leather seats make any difference in getting the things changed? and by active suspension if you mean the sport and comfort mode thing thn, Yes it does have that option.

2- Can I just leave the gear box as it is and just change the other things including the dashboard?

3- I have two LC options at the moment. One is with the navigation system, second is without. But the LC with Navigation system is more clean so im more inclined towards that but i want to be sure that having the navigation system wont create problems for me when im converting the things.

4- Have you done this before or can you suggest me a good place where I can get this whole process done from? Im planning to get the parts from peshawar.

5- Any approximate cost on the dashboard?

Basically ill buy a LC 1998 diesl model or so and than i want it to convert it to Cygnus 2005 shape with front 4 lights etc. I wont change the engine though, just the shape etc. Yes it does have height control and everythng. It will be in diesel.. I want to convert the dashboard etc to the cygnus shape as well. So it'll be basically be a cynus with a diesel engine.

Bro I will bring the car Peshawar and request you to help me in the whole process.

I understand now. But do u know there is slight difference between a 2005land cruisers dashboard and 2005 land cruiser cygnus dash. One is meter offcourse. Other is the deck of center console that has different buttons and md disc insert. Wiring is not bolt on. It will need modifications eg. Your car must not have the ac on touch panel like that in Cygnus and 2003+ LC. I don't remember the cost. Haven't done my self as I keep my cars as original as possible and fiddling with electronics may make you bang your head against the wall for such expensive cars. Anyhow when are you coming.

1998 LC was a class apart..!! and that 2005 Cygnus have ugliest headlights..!!!

Im just waiting to find a good LC to buy. N before buying a LC i want to be sure that this conversion is possible without much hassle. I also want an idea of the cost. For example im expecting something around 2 lakh as the cost. Thats what makes this car feasible. Otherwise I should just buy a 2003 LC for around 45 lakh n enjoy the ride. But i want to get a LC 1998-2001 around 33-34, spend 2 lakh on it and make it a almost brand new cygnus.

By 2005 cygnus i meant just the new dashboard. I think it started from 2003. That dashboard will do for me as well. So basically what youre saying is that if i get a 98 diesel model, the exterior changes can be made without much hassle. Regarding the interior, I need to buy a LC that does not have the touch screen option so that its easier to convert the dashboard. However, even if it does have a touch screen(some 98 models do have touch screen), it can be converted but will be troublesome. Is this the situation?

Can you just give me a slight idea of the price. Do you think it will be within 2 lakh.

I think the cost should be around 1.5 lacs to 2 lacs for changing the front and back bumpers, headlights, bonnet, front grill, back door, dashboard and gear. Add around 1 lac more for small parts, accessories and denting and painting. I have been unable to get a price for sunroof though.

1998 and 1993 have same shape ..why not just buy that one for around 10 ,12 k and convert it
