You shorted the poles? Or just touched spanner on the clamp nut and it started to crank?

Believe me I've never seen or heard about this before too. I have removed the battery many times and nothing like this happened. Last I removed the battery was around 3 weeks ago and the 80 has been parked since then.
I touched the spanner on the clamp nut and it started to crank.
Toyota is updating the LC user manual with below text:"To unlock the auto cranking features use a spanner on battery -ve terminal"
