Land cruiser LC200 should I buy?

Hello everyone. I have a budget of 3.5 crores which can be exceeded to 4cr. I was looking into buying used AXG land cruiser 2016-2021. Is this a good choice or should I go with importing it on my own. The import of 2020 AXG will cost around 3.8 cr.

I know a lot of people who do reverse the meter and there is tampering with the car which is why I’m skeptical about buying a used LC200. I was also looking into the fact that maybe I can buy 2012 model and get it facelifted inside and out since the engine is same.

Im just not sure what exactly would be a wise and better decision? I know if i import 2020 and maybe in 2-3 years I plan on selling it wont be easy since the market will be full of lc300 and nobody would buy 2020 model. They would rather buy 2016 since it would save them some cost. Really appreciate your help and guidance members. Thanks

Prado LC seems underpowered and I personally dont like it so it is out of the question to even consider.

Demand won't be affected for 200 series anytime in future.

Unfortunately, reduced tax wont benefit since the demand in Japan has gone high and the rates have also increased. Honestly, from my calculation I dont think there would be any benefit.

We got like $12k-20k discount in duties. No way rates can go that high unless Japan's looking to enter recession or Pakistani dealers over there looking at divorce papers if they fail to take Japanese wife out for dinner.

How do I go about importing a vehicle? I asked a bunch of dealers in lahore and they informed me this whole process of getting the payment to Japan from pakistan via hundi/hawala and then paying all the fees required within 3 days of winning the auction. After that it would take almost 2-3 months for the car to arrive at Karachi port where transfer charges, CNF karachi, custom duty, getting someone to get their passport, clearance and local transportation charges are to be paid in PKR.

I'm kinda confused how to win the auction in Japan and how does the handling work. The dealers in Lahore are charging around 500k to facilitate and guide the process. All the charges required for hawala/hundi, passport will be paid by me. By charging 500k, they'll just put me in contact with people who will get the car cleared. Im not sure if this is the way to go about it.

Apparently the regulatory duty has been reduced from 90% to 40%. This means a reduction of 50% in regulatory duty only. This translates to almost 2 million PKR for LC200. However, the price of LC200 has increased in the custom houses from what I heard from the dealer. He said that he can promise that I wont be able to save a single penny since it will cost the same. He gave me a rough estimate of 3.8 cr for LC200 AXG and 4.3 cr for ZX 2020 Less than 50k driven 4.5 grade.

Buy something thats here in Pakistan already, that you can physically see and touch , Aim for 2019 & up models as they were imported in 2024 atleast and cleared in 2024 2025

Dont fall for some khayali car being imported from japan that your gonna save alot of money on , yes its possible and yes its a process but on the flip side i've seen shareef guys having their advances stuck by thugs and being strung along for MONTHS

About face-lifting a 2012 model , DONT , 2012 generally speaking will be 12-13 years old now, you have a good budget you can get a really clean car in this budget dont sell yourself short enjoy what you buy, something that puts a smile on your face when you see it .

Also facelifting is what posers and rent a car walas do. These chinnese faceliftws fall apart in months the chinnese facelift headlights and backlights yellow out and fade in a few months trust me i've kept and done all this on a 2010 zx and learned from it , a well kept 2012 modle in its orignal shape commands more market value and respect amongst peers

Appreciate your response. However, despite the decrease in regulatory duties dealers/people haven’t decreased the price of a 2019/2020 model. The demand of ZX 2019 is around 5cr. This is way over my budget. The same goes for AXG too. This is the reason I thought about importing the car myself. I know a few people personally who tampered with the meter and sold their cars. I’m not an expert and I’m pretty sure someone could fool me and I wouldn’t know till I sell the car myself.

Due to these frauds, I was under this impression that if i were to import the car myself then there is less likely chance of getting scammed. I dd reach out to MYCARS PK and they also gave me a quote. Im in touch with Best wheels too.
