Hi folks, just wanted to start a thread of another gem I bought. This time I bought landcruiser 1990 3 door in white colour with a genuine 2LTE inside.

Once I drove it for the first time, I found out bad clutch and pressure plate and jeep was sluggish to drive.
It was not the real deal the way 2Lte drives.

I firstly checked the boost by adding manual boost gauge and test drove it and found 0psi.

Found out leak egr pipe causing the exhaust to not enter properly in exhaust manifold. Changed the pipe and gasket of egr and after this recieved about 9-10 psi of boost which was on specs. Drove it and found out it was good to drive then.

Afterwards found out door latch adjustment was not good since jeep was in jharikas and their was no reliable person who could work on this jeep and owner used to stay in Ksa. Shocks were bad and so was the leakages from valve cover so placed new gasket.

Then did compression test and found out
290-300-320-340 psi of compression values.
Which were less the good mark was 440 or above.
So I plan to do the overhaul and enjoy this engine for few months with some other tweaks and then go on with 1kzte swap.

I will keep on posting whenever I am doing some upgrades or maintainence so anyone looking at this thread can benefit.

Asking about driving experience, like who's taken the feel of it in hills?

Drive is good. But on very steep climb (for me it was in chitral gol national park) it stalls. But dont panic and switch the 4x4 gear to Low. Then climb. 1kz engine on the other hand doesnt need the Low gear even on steep climbs.

I understand. My Bj40 on the other hand has plenty of torque, doesn't need even 4x4 while climbing steep slope.
Was your engine or turbo compromised a bit? Or was it perfect?

Sir, it was 100% ok. And like i told, the vehicle that steep climb perfectly, but with LoHi gear. Actually i have another kzj71 with 1kz engine and never ever used the LoHi gear before. So i assumed same for this 2400cc engine. But once you deploy the LoHi, 2400cc does the job perfectly.

Yeah I've once experienced this. Climbing up to kandol lake near utror kalam. On a 5 door 2L powered.
6 passengers and it was so steep track, literally seeing towards sky. And prado did the job easily in Lo hi gear.
Once I came out of it, my family went to the lake but I came to see the engine bay, and hear a kirr kirr kirr diesel idling sound, touching the radiator pipes and they were almost 60-65 degrees only and it was beautifully idling. That day I was really impressed.

So my other ride Bj40 jeep powered with a 2B is a real. Monster compared to a 2Lte. It literally climbs the hills in 2wd mode very easily.

I have prado with 5L E engine with manual gear. It has low pickup , consumes 7 km/L on long. Compression test shows 460-440-440-400. I have rebuilt diesel pump. Adjusted tappets. But no improvement. What can be cause of high fuel consumption and low power.

Bro I can't say anything because the compression test values are pretty confusing. If possible can you come to me for a overall testing of your vehicle?

How is the 2LTE in durability? I recently bought an 87 model running on a 2L engine and was very confused between 2L and 2LTE. Went for 2L in the end coz some experts suggested that 2LTE has some serious durability issues. How has your experience been with it?

It's good. No durability problems. It's just you need to do all the services once like turbo cleaning or replacement of required and checking the boost to be 9-11psi.
Rest no issues. I had turbo problems, got it brand new Chinese and now the acceleration and pickup is good so is the economy. And it's diesel efi engine so efi diesels are good. So my preference is 2Lte
