Dear Bro,It really depends on what are your requirements,however having said that, there are a no of options e.g intel core 2 duo 1.6 to 2 ghz or AMD turion64 2 or 2.2 ghz with 1 gb ram which is good for a stable performance.though the intel processores are more expensive then the AMD ones however AMD's nowadays are more affordable and good performers as well. I am myself using A Gateway notebook with an amd processor and belive me i am totally satisfied.All the famous Brands are good like HP,DELL TOSHIBA,IBM,ACER and GATEWAY.If you want a laptop which has everything and is reasonably priced then you must go for ACER 5720.Here is a link as well. http://www.beliscity.com/ProductDetail.aspx?did=15&bid=198&cid=79&sid=299&pid=7682&Desc=1. yaar waise to Sony Vaio is the best laptop in every aspect but its prices r very high. But u can try dell inspiron 6400 series laptop. It is also very good in usage and quality and it is cheaper than Sony Vaio.
Sony vaio is best in all aspects but it is little bit expensive.If u can afford then go for Sony vaio.

If you have someone coming to Pakistan from USA, ask them to get one for you..you'll get an excellent system within 1000 dollars (with 17 inch screen and dedicated graphics card) and reasonable one in 600-800 dollars. You will save 15-20 thousand rupees.

just go for HP 530 15.4 wide screen 1gb ram 1.6 core duo modem 2 usb's DVD writer2.5 hours standby time i purchased it brand new and it cost 41000/-purchased it from rawalpindiit plays NFS mostwanted very beautifully and very fast its the best in this price range so go for it its the best
@SalmanZiaYou should get a dual core processor [Make sure its atleast core duo in case of Intel and X2 in case of AMD ]For Vista recomended Ram is 2GB with XP minimum ram is 1GB. [Usally its much cheaper to buy an after market Ram]If u play games get a dedicated Display card (for highest end gaming refrain from getting cards that have hyper memory or turbocache in them )other wise integrated is great as most newer integrated chipset can handle Vista and will give u twice battery life than a dedicated card.Blue Tooth and Wifi are important now a days. Integrated camera is your own choice. If u can get it from America nothinng like it. From the local market I will recommed you this site http://www.galaxy.com.pk/. Please have a look at the laptops.In your price range this HP530 look like a bargain but check all the laptops in new and old section. The prices that this shop offer are unbeatable.
dear HP 530 is best solution in view of ur budget, acer can cost you around ur bedget but my experience with acer is not so good as far as performance is concerned.
and yes now a days laptops are offered with OS i mean with dos/linux so be prepared to buy windows vista business for rs 8k-9k. (i will not recomment home edition)although u can use win xp 9 20rs. cd but check for compatibilty of drivers etc.
