AGS battery prices (As per my experience, AGS is better as compared to rest 3 i.e Exide, Phoenix & osaka)

But My personal experience of long lasting of Exide & AGS example is more than that :

1. Car Battery Exide running from last 9 years continuously Mashallah

I am running Exide battery from last 9 years & it is still giving me quick start on 1st self but car is corolla & daily running is at least 100 Km

2. UPS Battery AGS running from last 7 years continuously Mashallah
I bought Exide battery 200 or 210 AH almost 6 more than 6 years ago but after 5-6 days,i found that it is not charging, i took battery to dealer,he checked ups & battery & told that there is faulty cell & it would be replaced free of cost to me.so i agreed but that was around 9:45 P.M night & fortunately or unfortunately, his stock of Exide was finished and he told that he will replace me day after tomorrow,

As in that era,load shedding was at peak so i refused the offer then he offered that he will replace me with new AGS battery 190 AH and in that case there is price difference of Rs. 150 between both (AGS was 150 rupees lesser than exide) so i can take AGS in replacement

With heavy heart, i accepted offer & brought it & mashallah till to date it is working very fine with my Ups. my ups is of 600 VA but still this battery is giving me good backup for around 2 hours easily.

TO YOUR SURPRISE I AM A BIT LAZY FELLOW AND DO NOT TAKE MUCH CARE FOR ELECTROLYTE REGULARLY, mostly i used to check & top-up electrolyte once after 4-5 months. Car battery is perfect & even most of time there is either no need or a very minor need of topping up the battery fluid but this UPS battery AGS drinks Litres of litres of Distilled water (only thing i noticed that ups battery gets some swell up a little with fatty belly in the middle

, i thought it is because of carelessness of not checking electrolyte regularly but some one told me that it might be due to over charging too. lets see....

If you're regularly topping up this much water in UPS batteries, then it's an indication of almost dead battery.

I guess, UPS is always charging it, always consuming electricity. Makes a difference of around 60 units per month in case of 12V UPS (single battery one).

Yes always after 4-5 months or even after 6 months, i get time to check water in this UPS battery due to my hectic routine
but if it is dead, then how it is giving good backup of atleast 3 hours continuously with 2 fans ( 2 X 80 =160 watts) and 5 savers (5 X32 watts= 160 watt),
Total watt ~ 320 watts for continuous 3 hours ...
60 units extra per month ..............? i am downing

Just check if the battery is always in charging state or not? If it is not getting charged all the time, then it's perfectly fine.

Last year the battery attached to my UPS was continuously being charged. I have Homage UPS and you can hear the fan sound when it is charging the battery. As it was charging battery all the time, the electrolyte level used to go down every fortnight. My electricity bill also went up although it was winter season. Bought a new battery, Phoenix UGS-175 and the bill came back to normal.

For my car, I am using AGS battery and it is amazing. Bought it in August 2011 and still going strong. Almost 4.5 years.

yes 4.5 is common for good battery in car if u start it frequently.but 1 thing i am not understanding, if ur ups was faulty & continuously charging battery & bill was charging,so how the problem solved by replacing battery?
In that case, fault should be in ups ....not in battery...

UPS won't stop charging unless it sees battery charged above a predefined voltage. A battery with some dead/weak cells will never achieve that voltage, and UPS will keep on charging it. Fault is with battery, not UPS...!!!

For 2nd query, my UPS have a charging light indicator. It keeps blinking with green light when charging the battery (and UPS fan is also running during that time). If charging full, then the light gets green permanently (no blinking).

The UPS is designed to stop charging when the battery is fully charged. For that purpose, a voltage level is set. Let's say its 14 volts. When the battery reaches 14 volts, the UPS stop the charging but if the battery is faulty, it will never reach 14 volts and the UPS will keep on charging it and hence a lot of electricity is wasted.

Some UPS have indicator which shows charging state. As I mentioned in my previous post, my Homage UPS switch off its internal fan when the charging is complete. So I can tell from its sound. Also if the battery is continuously being charged then its terminals must be hot/warm.

thanks for clearifying,now answer 3 things:
1.What is the way to check dead/weak cell in battery?
2.How can i know that how much voltage battery is achieving? simply by voltmeter?
3.my ups dont have such indicator, so how can i handle this?

i am not sure but have a doubt that my ups draws much electricity units

For battery cells checking, a hydrometer is required. You can take the battery to a battery shop (after full charging, ie. charging for a long time after load shedding). An the guys can check the gravity of all 06 cells. They can also put a meter for load test to tell the battery condition.

But only do it if the battery is really reducing water drastically. If you have to top it up every 5-6 months, it's fine.

A faulty battery would reduce water level below minimum within 1-2 weeks. Keep checking the water level every few days. If it doesn't reduce much, nothing to worry.

Recently after serving 37 months (03 years 01 month), my Daewoo Maintenance free DL60 was causing issue, although battery health indicator was showing "green" but when engine is hot means after driving for few minutes and if you switch off engine, then it caused issues in starting.

However it was perfect on cold start. Upon battery inspection by Daewoo battery meter, it showed "Replace" status with battery health showed as 12% while charging was coming 98%

I purchased again dL60 by paying difference of 5,500 + old battery as follows:
New DL60 price: Rs. 8,000
Minus old DL60: Rs. 2,500

Phoenix Quality is very good. In my opinion, go for Phoenix TX2500 Tubular one. instead of AGS2500.

Phoenix is true deep cycle tubular and will give you app. 230 AH
