well.......i think when it comes to cars market in pakistan,its quite versatile but then again the market has been monopolized by Honda,Toyota and suzuki,i mean most of the time when it comes to buying a car our mind revolves around buying one of theses cars and the simple reason....cuz most of us are either middle class or upper middle class.
The way these three car makers are exploiting us is notable,i mean we should give it a thought,Simply look at the the sky rocketing prices of these cars and in particular SUZUKI,Almost 1 MILLION FOR Cultus and 0.7 m for Alto...Pathetic.
we should bycott these three brands unless there prices are in line with other cars 0r the other option untill they brought down there prices to the level they were 5 years ago,only then there prices will be justified and they will be doing justice with the pakistani people. The gist of the matter......Forget the new models and lets think on this core issue.

im afraid this will prove to be another bad decision by paksuzuki. they shouldve introduced it with a 1.0ltr engine to capture the vitz and santro market.

The article says Pakistanis prefer hatchbacks. In my opinion that a wrong statement. If Paskitanis have an option 99% would buy a sedan. They buy hatches like the Cultus, Mehran, Santro or Cuore because they have no sedan choice in this price range. If Suzuki is introducing the Swift 1300cc at prices comparable to Liana then it will probably not sell as people with that much money would prefer a Liana or a City. If they market the SX4 sedan then it stands a small chance of surviving. A 1300cc hatch by Suzuki is something which I would not consider buying.

^^ swift has a huge trunk as compared to other hatchbacks....i mean its dikki has a lot of space as compared to other hatchbacks...and yah if this is reasoably price with ABS...then i am sure ppl will buy this reather then VXLI....or vitz...but comparing this to rolla XLI and city.....i dun think one would buy even if this would have more features....

hmm...read all the comments but all are very diverse.agree that hatchbacks can not be compared with sedans in Pak.price will be the key factor in this situation.have my fingers crossed,lets c what comes up from PS but i am not expecting any good:)(based on my experience).

wen saying competing the City nd the rolla, all they meant was that they couldnt capture a share in 1.3 sedan market So as being the only 1.3 Hatch back mayb their product be a key product and get them some share in the 1.3L market.

companies giving Lianas nd cultuses to there employees would reconsider the costs. nd probably Suzuki swift wud end up competing its own sister brand Cultus and Rehana, oh i mean Liana. as currently Alto and Cultus are doing.

eventualy if u see all the 3 manufactures in the country have steped back from the competition.

Coure being 7 lacks is out of the competition wid either mehran or Alto.

Santro being obselete Cultus is alone

Liana forget it, City backed off wid lowering prices nd being a smaller car then Xli

Honda stoped the EXI version civic to compete the Toyota GLi

the only rivals remain are the 1.8L corola nd the 1.8L Civic.

even then very Toyotas are less in number as toyota emphasises on GLI nd XLi model.

I believe that the swift will be a great success if they keep it under 1 million. My guess is that it will be around 980- 1000 k

but as the engine is the same m13a as in Liana then a auto variant of Liana shud have had been on the roads by now (mayb jst as a marketing tool) coz its been 3yrs since the pakistani Launch.

Despite not being able to build decent cars, what PakSuzuki is good at is selling almost 'anything'.

They introduced 10 odd cars in the last 20 years, and most of them were hit...apart from Liana..even that sold to an extent.

Alto, Mehran, Alto again, Khyber, Swift, Cultus, Bolan, Ravi, Baleno...and Liana.

So the odds are, whatever it is, it will sell fast and alot.

okay mayb ure right, but Pak Suzuki in it self is nuthing, it only has welding rights and is being operated by Suzuki Japan. so there the policy makers, and the ones to plan wat to launch and wat not too.
