i m not an expert in these type of things so is this open connection safe in rainy conditions , looking a bit risky

I suggest use hot glue gun and cover open connections.
How much wattage is this LED ? LED 1 watt and above require heat sink for sure, otherwise they will die quickly.
Please post image of switch also.

Loads of these of various wattage available on delextreme, dirt cheap.
Even local electronic market have these mostly 1 watt wali.
