the only way to check if the tv is genuine (as per my knowledge) is to go into its root menu (factory settings) .. for different brands there is a different code .. you can find it on the net .. when you're in root menu, find the ids related to product, its board, chasis graphics etc and then look on net and you'll know if the product is original or not and even its actual model ... some companies offer similar models but different graphics cards for europe asia, etc so this can also be known if your set is asian or europian ... NOW if this code doesn't work then its a non-genuine set ... like for samsung if the code is "vol +, menu, vol - pressed simoultaneously in standby mode (its just an example) and your tv doesn't go into factory settings then thte tv u r using is only samsung on the outside the machinary is unbranded .. try it
word of warning : do not change any settings there unless you know exactly what will happen and how to revert
