over the years i have used a few LEDs and currently i am using a Series 6 LED and a LED that i bought through a friend which turned out to be a chinese product... the friend was telling me that the LED was from Malaysia or Philippines and was brought to pakistan via Afghanistan and his cousin knew the guy... blah blah blah,... so i gave him the money and he brought the LED... long story short i ended up going to the main person importing these things... after a good 30 minutes of using my best abilities he cracked up and told me that all LEDs available in pak being sold as philipines, malaysian and spanish models are actually chinese ones.
Amongst the chinese there are two options one with a glass over the screen and one without... the one without the glass cover on the screen is a little thicker with beveled edges so from a distant the edges would appear thin but are actually not... the LEDs without glass over them are actually modified LCDs (dont kill the messenger). he was kind enough to place an original samsung, Samsung LED (with glass) and samsung LED (without glass, actually a LCD)... amongst these the LCD was crap was being offered to me for 26,000 for a 40 inch model, Samsung chinese LED was being given for 35,000 and its resolution was close to if not equal to my 6 series LED bought for 150,000.
Amongst the chinese LEDs the ones being sold with Samsung monogram are presumably better as over the years any remote can be used with them... (original samsung, samsung copy or samsung universal) the sony LED are almost the same but the remote once gone bad is a tough one to find.
he agreed to give me a 3 year warranty for picture quality and 1 year replacement warranty.... he was then kind enough to take the LED back after a deduction of 3 thousand but recommended to try the LED 1st. so due to his cooperation and attitude i brought the LED back home... been using it for last 3 weeks now. my family members even believed it was a genuine one. my cousin said that the colors of the LED in the room are better and richer.. its a chines product and i am now at times inclined to keep the LED and will most probably avail the 3 year warranty.
The only complain i have with the LED is that its a cross between the samsung LED and my good old sony LCD that i used about 8 to 9 years ago. why i say this is because while changing channels the sony LCD had a lag time of 1 to 2 seconds. the chinese LED has good built quality, good picture quality, good voice but has a lag time of about "half" a second. you just feel that compared to the 6 series the screen on the chinese model appears just a few micro seconds later.
In a nut shell... its a good machine.. good cheap alternative to a LED 3 to 4 times its price. The itch and the nervousness of using a chinese product is there and is very hard to digest. if you can live with it fine
