Lexus LX 470

Dear members

I would like to know wether the SUV i.e. Lexus LX 470 comes with a diesel engine like the land cruiser comes with a diesel version; or lx 470 possesses only the petrol engine, finally is it possible to get a diesel lx 470 some how (by order etc).

Lexus’s first diesel engine, an all-aluminium, 2.2-litre, four-cylinder unit that is the most powerful in its class with a maximum output of 132kW and class-leading torque of 400Nm from 2000 to 2400rpm.

It is avalaible in "LEXUS IS"
will go on sale in 2006.

well, i thought i answered maybe that was too indirect.

there is no lexus 470 with deisel. easy way is to swap landcruiser engine in it if your want to do at your earliest, or wait till lexus annonces a deisel SUV

All the LX 470 u see giving black smoke have converted engines.Yes they take out the petrol V8 and put in the 4200 diesel one. Engine swap,

....or a body swap. they take a diesel land cruiser and swap its body with a LX 470's body. I have personally seen and driven one diesel landcruier with Lexus LX 470 exterior and badging. Only a sharp eye can detect the difference between a real thing and a poser.

You and @Levin are right there is no LX 470 in diesel, even the LC Cygnus does not come in Diesel. Either body swap or engine swaps like you and Obz3ed and @Levin said.

@levin...I have always respected your opinions, but are you sure about the "all aluminum" diesel in the Lexus IS...This would be the first aluminum block diesel enigne in automotive history! Up until now every diesel engine ever made had a cast iron block for stiffness and durability. Please clarify,

Hes right. The engine is the aluminum block and head 2AD-FHV/FTV commonrail, using piezoelectric injectors, designed to run on 48 Cetane. The engine amongst other feature boasts the lowest compression ever for a diesel. 15:1 and a variable nozzle turbo CT12C (FTV) built at Toyota Poland. Although it was originally designed for the Avensis/Verso/Estima. Lexus never had a Diesel option till now, the IS220D which is however, extremely unlikely for North America or Asia.

Lexus cannot be imported by Toyota Indus itself so let alone any other independent importer.
All the LX 470's and the RX 330's that you see are converted.
A toyota Grand cruiser with a diesel engine is bought and then it is sent off to Dubai. In Dubai,the front lights,the tail lights and the grill is changed and the plates inside,near the door are changed and so are the Toyota Monograms,and Voila!u have an LX 470,same goes for RX 330.

LX 470 is the best SUV no doubt, but it comes only in 4.7L V8 gasoline engine. Lexus represents an elegant and luxurious class with comfort, pick and quiet operation. With a diesel engine these are difficult to achieve (especially noise and vibration is problem) Moreover those who can afford Lx 470 are not bothered about cost of fuel.

Land Cruiser Cygnus is identical to LX 470 but bears monogram of Toyota as it is meant for domestic market of japan.

Thirdly, it is not at all advisable to put a diesel engine in lexus body, it will never give the feeling of a Genuine lexus,...... or changing lights of land cruiser and fixing a lexus monogram can never convert LC into a lexus.

More to add, LX 470 doesnot come in right hand drive version, so all RHD LX 470 u see are truely Land Cruisers in their heart. Right hand version which they make for japan is Cygnus.
