Whatever you've experienced isnt always helpful unless you can prove it which apparently you couldn't a while back when you were asked for backing up your theory regarding throwing out the t-stat and simply came up with the answer that its the PAKI WAY of THINKING.

You say your 3 cars are "properly" maintained. Tell me, did you throw away the t-stats from all of them? Why? What made you think this is a good thing? Surely you must have reasons for doing so and suggesting it to others aswell.

Properly maintained means road worthy and always on road. And yes all of them are without tstat plus direct fan plus 20/50 oil with soundless engines still and all have clocked over 100k kms. My alto vxrs tstat was thrown out once it did 12k km only and fan made direct. We sold it at 80k km still with sealed and soundless engine. Always ran on 20/50 oil - the cheapest one of pso (genuine). My liana became a pain thrice just because of our stupidity and gasket gone due to leaking radiator, water pump and once by forgetting to place the rad cap back - its engine is still soundless after 120k km..so, whatever the science says, my experiences are enough to prove worth of all this. Thanks alot bro

Your car may be road worthy but that dose not make them properly maintained if you start removing bits from it because your Ustaad tells you. Tomorrow someone might tell you to add antifreeze in the master cylinder because it will stop the brakes from freezing. Are you gonna go ahead and do that too? If you think that removing the t.stat will result in your engine not heating up, then BRAVO to you, your idea's and your experience.

The tstat has marked 82'c on it and the manual says the same to be used.. I know about air bleed valve that it should be kept upwards.plus pipes are ok.but ill check if they need replacement and will pour in coolant.

Since your replacing the t.stat, a coolant flush at this point will be a good step. try doing it the proper way. There are a few threads here on pw where the correct technique has been shown.

Abid bhai you aren't getting the point dragging a car to 100k + mileage is no achievement now I would tell you what achievement is there is a guy on pw having a daewoo racer and it on its original engine with no major repair (not even gasket change) and original copper radiator car came with from factory

Bravo. You must be inhaling the good stuff if your gonna start comparing yourself to every other non-educated person.

As for removing the thermostat, your gonna run the engine over cool. You will end up with bad fuel economy since the CTS will assume the engine is not at the normal operating temperature and inject more fuel. This causes premature engine wear as the excess fuel will wash the oil from the cylinder bores. So no matter how much you think your car is properly maintained and soundless, you're screwing it up. If you still think the direct system is a good way, keep at it. Don't advice others to do the same.

Our ke70 has been driven 600k+. Everything under the hood is still ff. That car has never been driven without a t.stat.
Our ke30 has over 400k+ on the odo. Never had any issues with the t.stat.
My J120 1kzte has 200k on it. No issues with the t.stat.

Every car at our house has the t.stat in it, even the donkey 91 mehran. Never had any overheating issues. Misconceptions and Ustaad ki recommendation is all the general public care about.

Today when i opened the bonnet i came accross the almost broken accelerator wire...see the thin wires broken.. It was jammed in november 2014 and my mechanic took the cable out, did some jugaar as new cable was not available anywhere at that time. He said comfortably his jugaar will work for over a year and take the car to paki tour even with this damaged wire. But the wire is almost completely gone after 15 months - so i again went to him and he said to buy a genuine japani one and NOT the paki version.. Pics of wire broken are attached..

...and then i went to market - 280 for paki version and 975 for japani assembly - i bought japani one.. Pics attached...will have it installed tomorrow inshallah..

No. Its a simple DIY. Will hardly take 10 minutes on your driveway. Remove the engine cover to have better access to the throttle body while you remove/install the cable. First remove the cable end from the engine compartment, get in the car and look at the top of the throttle pedal. You should see the cable secured in place by the circular plastic clip. Pull the clip out with your fingers and release the cable from the pedal.

If I remember correctly, you need to pinch the black circular clip that snaps into the firewall from the cabin so it can be pushed out into the engine compartment. You can use your pliers or a tweezer to do this. That's it. Now install the new cable in the reverse method.

I've updated the post. Forgot to mention something in there. Changing a throttle cable is a basic DIY. Worry about electronics on these cars and never directly spray water or oil on these engines. One of our drivers did and I ended up with a complete m18 swap.

120k? thats cute..........did you know that the average 4 cylinder engine can go as far as 500k without overhaul if you maintain it the "scientific" way...

Especially when you have a engine with steel sleeve which can bear more wear and tear than iron block engine

If you know what your doing, I don't see how playing with the electronics should be a problem. The only problem I know off is that working on a cars electronics that has been messed about through our ustaads almost always ends up in a disaster. I had these issues with the Xtrail and Liana. I had to back track on both cars to figure out wtf was causing all the electrical problems and it was almost always a spliced wire that had branches of wires connected to it. We replaced the whole wiring harness on the Liana and I fixed the whole wiring harness on the Xtrail. Problem solved. You can now do as many DIYs with the electronics as you want if you do them correctly.

BTW, my car was overheating and coolant was reducing about 1 liter a day. Therefore, the thermostat valve has now been removed that I had installed brand new last month (bought from Haji Autos, Plaza) and made the fan direct. This way, the engine performance and fuel average have been affected but eventually my car can stay on the roads as much I desire, rather than visiting mechanics again and again.
